pretty sure this was a “ramble about a character” thing so we’re gonna go with Vellin.

“Who’s vellin?” you ask. good question.

So technically I think he’s the oldest* OC I have included in the Star Verse. He predates the star verse by... three years I think? He’s older than Ber and Noddle fucking Pannrig! Vellin was from the first novel I ever finished.

*Qila is from the same story. So he can share the spot with her. I think though Vellin was created first.

Anyway, I was like “oh white haired dude from a noble house, OBVIOUSLY he’d be Lethean.” and just kind of filed that in the back of my head in case I needed someone that fitted his description for a story. Like the things that were important for him to keep was that he didn’t exactly get along with his family, adored his youngest sister, and was blind. everything else could be wiggled about depending on where he fit in the story.

Well guess what? I’ve discovered a place for him in Burning Stones. Carrot’s family kind of dumped her at the temple bc she was disabled. Anyway, Vellin’s def her older brother. He was musically gifted so the family was all “of course he’s our son our famous musician who everyone loves bc disabled people are only good when they’re otherwise exceptional”  and shows up at some point to be all hello sister I have finally told our family to go fuck themselves because i’m finally considered a legal adult and can now do that also have independent wealth outside of the family status. Or something. I’m not entirely clear on where or how he fits into the STORY of burning stones. Pretty sure he allies himself (And his considerable influence) with the cloth halls.

So yeah

TL:DR might have finally figured out WHERE Vellin fits into the star verse story wise and not just ‘this is the general area he would be from”

168: Is your characters easily embarrassed?

The character currently sitting at number 168 is Vellin, and he’s not particularly easily embarrassed.

169: Are any of your characters married to the sea?

Yes. This was actually the question for the Wandering Man / The Blue Man who is a spirit who is said to be married to the sea. Deffen I think would also count for that.  And Prince Therefor II definitely loves the ocean.

172: Do any of your characters hold a grudge against someone?

Oh yeah. Yadla against Taia. Obvis to Ri. Elthelene to her parents and her siblings. Odelle to her mother. Lial to Taia and the shadows/spirits/universe in general. Calif.  Some of these get worked through, some of them end in murder.

1. do they vomit often?

Vellin: No

2. do they get lots of stomach aches?

Veth: Yes.

3. are they good at comforting someone ill?

Vir: Yeah, he’s pretty good at it.

4. what do they like as far as comfort goes?

Vellin: soft fabrics, comfortable chairs, nice sounds around him.

5. do they burp, cough, or hiccup most when nauseous? when vomiting?

Veth: I don’t even know what this question is.

OC Day V - Vellin

Is tall and build like a beanpole. He tends look like he’d break a bone if he fell, and would likely get injured if he did, which is one of the reasons he moves around cautiously. He adores his littlest sister who is always happy and eager to follow him around, but however has a strained relationship with his parents.

Fun Facts:

Is blind

Enjoys playing music and sitting in the garden

Has a sword inside his cane (purely for the aesthetic he basically just waves it around really fast if he has to use it) he uses both for navigation and support

Oh my god though. Vellin. And this question.

Well, he originally came from a nano novel I wrote oh back in ... 2008 or 2009? and then I decided to transplant him into the Star Verse bc he has white hair and would fit in Lethe... and that’s about as far as I got for him.

He’s literally a Lethean Noble/Royal with a fully fleshed out backstory I have just sitting around until I need him to show up.

So, yeah, you could say I have trouble figuring out where they fit into the story.

(Although I know his own personal story, pretty well and had almost no problem figuring out his personal arc during the nano I originally wrote him in.)
