Five Things That Make Me Happy

1) Listening to my audiobooks while hiking

2) Doing my makeup to include something bold like a smoky eye or red lipstick

3) Writing my fics

4) Cooking for me and my mother (I’ve gotten pretty good at it over the last few months!)

5) Spending time with my friends and family

I've been playing with the though of breeding my 10 year old ball python female, but I have a few concerns/questions. Is she too old to breed? What's a good way to find a male to pair her with? She's in a 40g tank now and I want to custom build her something bigger with better enrichment, would it be better to do that before or after? I have no experience with breeding snakes so should I even? If I do, because I'm so new would it be better to let her incubate them or ask around for an incubator

It really depends, is she a normal? Its really not a good idea to breed normals, even for ‘practice’ unless you use something that is made up of two allelic genes as the father (super mojave, disco/fire, lesser/mojave, etc). Normal ball pythons saturate the market, and are incredibly difficult to sell or even give away :( If you do decide to breed, make sure you are ready to care for all the babies, possibly their whole lives if they don’t sell. You have to house, feed, and care for all of the babies. The breeding process is incredibly long, as is the incubation process. Do a ton of research first, and I would get her into the bigger and better enriched enclosure first as well. As for her age, if she is too old to breed all that will happen is she will either not develop follicles, or she will lay all slugs. :)

Fanfic Friday: do you ever day dream multiple versions of a scene to get it just right, but then when you sit down and type it out it's completely different? How many times do you think you reread any given chapter while editing it before it gets posted? (XD trying to figure out if I'm valid or not lol)

Okay, first off, you’re absolutely valid. There’s no “one size fits all” way to write. There are always going to be different ways to get to where you want to be. 

I do resonate with a lot of this, though. I often daydream about scenes. Sometimes, I’ll even just latch on to one piece of dialogue and build from it in my daydreams

Sitting down and actually writing out the material definitely feels like a big moment of truth. I’ll find out if there are any plot holes or OOCness that make bridging the last chapter and the current chapter/scene difficult. Before I do any actual writing, though, I do plot out everything on an outline. That keeps it all straight, preventing the chapter from veering totally off course. 

I usually have several documents open while I’m actually writing the new chapter:

The current chapter outline

The last chapter uploaded to AO3

The “scraps” document to see if there’s any salvageable material

Once the new chapter is written, I’ll usually read over it once or twice to make sure it all flows nicely.

So, in short, yes! I do daydream about scenes, and I can accept some changes in the final product. On the whole, though, I take measures to avoid it becoming too different. I don’t want to fall down a rabbit hole halfway through my story.
