For the Au game- a heist au, sidgenotanger?

Send me a potential AU and I’ll tell you five fun facts that would happen in a story.

Oh man I’m really struggling to come up with things that should happen in the story rather than things that are true about the story. My brain wants to a share big ideas like who does what rather than concrete details. Because I love that fic so much, I think the focus of this is one last job/training up the next generation instead of Sid’s crew planning a heist. Jake calls Sid in from retirement for one last job. Sid left the crew in Jake’s hands to go idk disappear on the side of a mountain or whatever we think Sid’s gonna do in retirement. Tanger has one foot out the door but is making sure PO can take his place in the crew before he leaves. Idk where Geno is he’s also retired but he shows up because of course he does.

Things that are true and happen in the fic:

This is the third time Sid has come out of retirement for “one last job.” He’s not quite to Jagr’s levels of in and out of retirement but Flower has a betting pool going anyway. Geno meanwhile hasn’t been seen since he retired. Tanger keeps saying he’s going to retire and hasn’t yet.

PO needs to create a distraction and he absolutely either trips all over someone or opens a door in their face or pours soup in their lap and then gives the person a sheepish smile and he’s forgiven immediately.

Kissing to hide from pursuers is all well and good but it’s way less hot when its a former friend with benefits (the benefits being previously sex and currently emotional constipation and a brewing feelings realization) and your other former friend with benefits is in your earpiece critiquing both your kissing and your distraction skills. Somehow he ends up getting worked up anyway.

There’s a moment when they’re all huddled around a map or screen or something when Jake looks to Sid for advice but he just nods his head at the table because he trust’s Jake plan and is willing to follow his play. This is a fic about the ot3 but a subplot is Jake’s confidence and leadership skills without the old guard to lean on

Idk what the heist is but please imagine that one sequence in ocean’s 11 where the have the acrobat do some crazy flexible shit and bend himself into like a drinks cart to hide and junk and also maneuver around lasers. Now imagine Jars doing that. That.

Bonus:

So many easter eggs for current and former pens. My brain doesn’t want to stick with the leverage five man band schema so there’s just so many people in this ocean’s eight/ocean’s eleven situation. Even if everyone isn’t needed they at least get name dropped during the planning phase because I love to be sad about boys. Yes some grudges get brought up too

4. What type of shoes do you wear?

I have been buying the same new balance shoes from the same place (now with orthopedic insoles bc why the fuck not) for the last 5 or 6 years. Perhaps earlier. It works. They still make the exact shoe. Why buy anything else? I have a bunch of other shoes and also office appropriate work shoes but if I was going to describe my cartoon character average everyday attire those would be the shoes.

13. if you had to choose one POSITIVE word to describe yourself, what would it be?

Oh I’m great. And a delight. Also a cutie-patootie. I aspire to be kind in most things but idk if I succeed always. Trying is the most important part. I know most of tumblr’s population would struggle but uhh nah I think I’ve got decent self esteem most days when the anxiety or brain bad isn’t fucking with me.

20. If you could revive one tv show that has been cancelled, what show would it be?

The correct answer is Galavant s3 would be very funny and they would have the best time with it even though I never finished s2. To be so honest I’m really bad with tv so idk what would be worth it to bring back that isn’t a quippy answer like I’ve already given. Oh actually. Speaking of seasons 3, they cancelled Schmigadoon s3 after everything was written and I would love a s3 more than the current bway run. s2/Schmicago was very very fun and I would love to see that they did with the next era of bway musicals. So I guess that’s my “if I could wave a wand and make it happen.”

1. what's your favourite kitchen appliance?

I cannot live without my hand mixer. I love it so much I did an entire presentation in college about the history of hand mixers and brought my mixer to class. My crockpot is a close second though.

15. do you collect anything?

I collect animal-shaped baskets and animal-shaped unusual glassware (candleholders, ashtrays, etc.). I found a duck-shaped basket with crooked eyes and a huge tail at a Goodwill in Missouri and it was the greatest day ever

20. what's your favourite beverage?

Water, but I do love a good matcha every once in a blue moon

9. How did you get into writing fanfiction?

I’ve been reading fanfic since circa 2008 so y’know it’s a language I speak from experience. Notfic and aus are easy because it’s just rearranging tropes in a way that hint or suggest at a story. The broad strokes. Actually writing, idk I’ve been around long enough that eventually I put two and two together and as I do more of it I get better at it.

12. What was the first fandom you wrote for?

I do not think prompts submitted to a handful of kink memes circa the early 2010s counts as writing. Nor any of the stuff that never got written down or if it has the files have been lost 3 computers and 4 versions of ms word ago. I think I have a stony soulmate au flashfic that I wrote in college that never got posted anywhere and some very old prompt fills on the main blog so marvel or dc probs. The earliest thing on my ao3 is some original superhero one shots (ocs from character to worldbuilding).

23. What’s a story you’d love to write but haven’t even started yet?

I’m not sure. A lot of my ideas are already separated into things I want to write and things that I exist as fun aus to think about occasionally. Everything I want to write is either outlined or mapped in some way. Maybe actually write something for celestial bodies rather than just curate a vibe. I could also do vanilla Jars/Tanger nesting+get together fic cause a lot of my current stuff is established relationship so it’d be nice to explore how I think they got together. Maybe one of the a!Jars/o!Tanger ideas that’s floating between DMs and my fic thoughts tag.

Oh. I don’t know how I’d make Kris misses out work as a fic which is why I there’s nothing there but an au pitch but that one could be fun. I’d like to know what that fic is story-wise but I simply don’t so I haven’t done anything with it. Probably that. I think it’d be the most interesting to explore as there’s an implied arc instead of some of my other aus which are scenes set within larger worlds.

2. what sport moment made you cry? (happy)

So. I may get hate for this, but I'm from LA, and I bleed Dodger blue. when they won the World Series in 2020, I was going through a rough patch, and I cried at like 06 in the morning when I watched the replay (because I was at work that night.) I was so happy.

(second less accurate answer [because anime:] Have you ever watched Yuri on Ice?- I grew up figure skating and loving anime. That anime was going to have my attention and soul when I realized it was an accurate description of high-level men's skating. But anyway. at the end of the first episode, when Yuri basically decided he wasn't ready to retire or to give up? I sobbed. because i had been there in on way or another. not that high level at all but for figure skating itself.)

8. who's your favorite player not on your favorite team + never been?

I think I will always have a soft spot for the following: Mitch Marner, Braden Holtby, Linus Ullmark, and Jeremy Swayman. Alex Carpenter, Carley Jackson, Mikyla Grant-Mentis, and Nicole Hensley

29 - Ned/Jars?

29 is For Elise by Saint Motel.

There’s not a lot of depth to this song. It’s very basic. It’s just about going drinking/clubbing and enjoying a night out with girls when you’ve been staring at a wall feeling blocked all week. The line I’d pull for Ned/Jars is “You need a spark, A light in the dark, To get you out of your head, and into your heart”

For photos I’d probably go with some collection of anthem or entering the ice photos. There’s not a ton of photos of Ned and Jars together on the ice so you have to cheat a little bit and build a narrative.

I’m too tired to figure out if this is a Jars centric edit or a Ned one but I ended up down a Getty rabbit hole so have some very rough draft options. No sourcing cause I’m tired and the watermarks are there. It’s all from Getty
