velvereen and palmyra hated each other. palmyra made rude and catty remarks and was overall just completely rude to velvereen. and velvereen is not one to just take that-so she was rude and made comments to palmyra right back.

in another life, these two would have been good friends.

velvereen was very outdoorsy and loved bugs and animals far more than people.

I want the tributes to escape and parkour through the Capitol to escape the cops peacekeepers. Someone films it (as well as the peacekeepers failing hilariously to keep up) and it goes viral.

The kids got away by knocking out the peacekeepers coming to drag them into the cattle car and scatter in all directions, taking the opportunity to wreak havoc across the city. It doubles as a diversion for Circ and Teslee to cause a Capitol-wide power outage and for Ginnee and Otto to hijack them a totally awesome truck to cruise away in.

Mizzen and Sheaf run around causing property damage with their antics, Brandy and Tanner are busy egging the Crane household, Panlo finds news reporters to livestream as many Ways In Which Gaius Breen Sucks And Should Break His Toes Kicking Rocks, Lucy Gray is performing a song (possibly with the help of Treech, Reaper and Velvereen) while actively getting chased, Facet is breaking into Livia’s room to destroy her makeup and deface every possession of hers he can find with it, Marcus is reconciling with Sejanus so they can team up and cause mayhem, Sabyn is cashing in on Forus’ offer to give her fashion products, Dill and Hy are collecting medicine, and generally there is Chaos.

Gaul tries to have the records deleted but it is a lost cause. Everyone remembers.

Velvreene 's backstory in your fics? Does her sister have down syndrome?

Hi! I'm actually excited about this ask as I have a few thoughts about Velvereen's backstory and I never really got the chance to really share them before.

In my fics, Velvereen's backstory is that as she was growing up her family owned a chocolate business in the centre of the District whose small businesses were established/well-connected enough to do personal business deals with Capitol businesses/families as well as providing products en-mass to the Capitol. Therefore because of that, her family is on the wealthier side. Her father's side of the family had owned the business for generations and they had luckily managed to keep ownership of it during the Rebellion and it's aftermath when some of their neighbours lost theirs for one reason or another (mainly due to Capitol interference). Her father is the current owner after her grandparents passed away during the Dark Days and she was expecting to take it over one day.

Her mother's side of the family though, came from a different part of the District altogether, in a heavily-populated poorer area that specialised in making the luxury materials that the Capitol used such as the fabrics, and her name is a nod to her mother's heritage.

For me, the main part of her backstory is her sister. She's a couple of years younger than Velvereen and is her only sibling. She does have an intellectual disability (I had never nailed it down which disability exactly other than she had one) and when she was reaped for the Games, Wovey did remind Velvereen of her, however her sister's disability is more severe than Wovey's as while Wovey would be/is able to live an independent life and take care of herself, Velvereen's sister will always need someone to take care of her.

Velvereen loves her sister a lot, like there is nothing she wouldn't do for her. She helped to take care of her sister as they were growing up, included her as much as possible and was completely willing to keep taking care of her when their parents did die. And admittedly even though it's never come up a whole lot as Velvereen doesn't tend to get that much pov focus in my fics, her sister is what motivates her arcs and the choices she makes in several of my fics. Examples include:

In future chapters of 'Can't Catch Us Now' (when I do get back to that) Velvereen was going to struggle a lot while out in the woods, not really because of the tough life, but more so because she has to work through what feels a lot like guilt to her for basically abandoning her sister now by not returning to District 1 and the knowledge that she won't see her sister again for a long time, if ever, and how her sister is possibly coping with her being gone as she wouldn't be able to understand.

And in both 'An Old Style Of Escape' and 'District Unity, Solidarity And A General Desire For Chaos,' Wovey and how she reminds Velvereen of her sister is what influences her decisions to a) not take her chances and run during the bombing and stick with their escape plan in the case of the former fic and b) to go back to free the tributes when she does successfully escape in the latter.

To be honest, Velvereen is probably one of the ~3 characters whose backstory has remained the same no matter what kind of fic that I'm writing.

So I have been thinking a lot about facet and velvrene the tributes from district 1 in the ballad of songbirds and snakes and I haven't seen anyone talk about them so I WILL DO IT, so facet and velvrene were considered one of the strongest tributes and snow remark how with their deaths Lucy gray 's chances of winning increased and even facet 's mentor Livia was reacting to receiving him as a tribute like she's getting a cool toy and not being responsible for a kids survival ( had to get that off my chest it's the first moment that irritated me in the movie) , however I am personally questioning did facet and velvrene actually stood a chance in the games or was everyone ignoring the fact that these two might have been alot more helpless then anyone considered, this is a time before careers are a thing so training academies weren't built yet, and district 1 is a artistic district that create luxury items, like crafting jelwereies they are not involved in the physically demanding work labor the way district 2 ,4 ,7 (maybe 9 I guess) , 10 ,11 are so they might not be experienced with weapons or Sharp objects and they are not used to fighting off malnutrition and hunger the way districts 3 and 8 and 12 are , the only reason it seems to be assumed that they have the best chances of winning is because they are in a decent physical condition compared to the other tributes thanks to district 1 being the wealthiest district but is that really a advantage if they weren't going to be fed properly for days and starving for the first time in their lives is that really a advantage against people who are not only used to fighting off hunger but are also used to living in hard environments and still being skilled with a weapon, did either of them knew how to handle any Sharp object or weapon they showed up to the capitol wearing school uniforms,this is just a headcanon of mine and I don't have evidence to back it up but I think had facet and velvrene actually went to the games they might have used the tactic of running away to stay hidden , I don't think their mentors or anyone for that matter considered the shock they might be experiencing due to suddenly being forced to fight for their survival for the first time in their lives when they are not used to it but that's just my personal observation

Halloween costumes❤️❤️❤️

Lamina makes Treech dress up as a fancy vampire because she’s a little too into Twilight at the moment (but don’t worry she matches with him)

Coral has the creepiest horror makeup and makes all the little kids cry. Mizzen goes as a sailor covered in starfish.

Tanner is the Cheshire Cat (I HAVE REASONS AND I WILL TELL YOU ABOUT IT IF YOU ASK) and begs Brandy to be the Mad Hatter or something. She refuses and doesn’t dress up.

Lucy Gray goes as Maria from West Side Story (hehe…) and Jessup goes as a ghost by wearing a bedsheet over his head (he panicked last minute)

Reaper and Dill duo and do Batman and Robin. Dill is Batman.

Wovey either goes as a cowboy/cowgirl or barbie. She keeps changing her mind every day. Bobbin goes as the Winter Soldier even though he’s missing the wrong arm.

Teslee and Circ dress up as some kind of electric thing. Idk the names of anything but they have crazy special effects to make them light up.

Facet and Velvereen are a prince and princess ofc, Marcus doesn’t dress up and just hands out candy, Sabyn is a black cat.

Sol and Hy go as Shaggy and Scooby Doo because that’s what Sol insisted on. Sol was Scooby.

Otto goes as a dog, and Ginnee is also a princess. Panlo and Sheaf don’t dress up😔
