Summer for the Deadwylers meant they better stuck up on vampiric sunscreen because the big party was coming. No, not the holiday, Lara’s Summer Party.

Ibis rolled into the party with Lori in the stroller. Soon she climbed out of it and went exploring around the pool while Ibis talked to his cousins and siblings. Meanwhile Taia made a beeline to the pool, a corner far away from the rest of the people.

Romancing a Deadwyler

Now I'll talk about Gen 1

There is one sibling worth mentioning here: Vera. Lara's sister. I'm not sure where you'll met her, probably nowhere good, but I do know the quest to unlock her involved helping her out because she's being accused of murder. Probably rightfully accused but the case is she wants to change for the better. You COULD be a bad influence and unlock an evil path though.

Everyone else I'm going to mention are friends, not siblings of the Deadwylers. This means you can double dip also romance the Deadwylers along with. 😂

Preston: He's a celebrity so it's hard to get to him. He's probably found in one of those exclusive clubs, the kind where you'd also find Lady Seraphine. However, he's not picky. He's famous for being a womanizer. So the only hurdle is getting to him.

Darla: Also famous. Rarely she'll be presenting herself in the theater of the second town, where Ari sings, but usually she'll be in other towns. She may also be found in the exclusive clubs. You'll have an easier time romancing her if you've also gained some notoriety yourself.

Ione: Darla's twin. You can but shouldn't romance both. Nothing too bad would happen though, except only Darla will keep things going with you. You can find her in special events, using this 'magical contraption' that 'makes instant images of the moment'. Even if you don't romance her, you can still learn to use this contraption.

If you befriend any of them well enough you might get an opportunity to get invited to a private party (Preston is the most likely to do this invite). At this party you can meet Alan! If you've already met Lara then Alan will tell you that they're together. Or if you already started to romance Lara, Alan will tell you he likes her so you may get them together.

It’s time for: Vampire lore!

Vampries can use their mental powers to alter how humans react and think of them. This is, obviously, for survival purposes.

Some vampires choose to become invisible on the eyes of humans, to erase themselves from their memories. It's harder to do if they interacted with the human, but not impossible. Vera opted to use this skill. She’d get in and out of a place and no one would remember her. She’d even make her victims forget about her, letting them unable to recognize them when they woke up (if they woke up).

Others vampires uss the opposite approach. They make themselves desirable to humans like flames for a moth. Humans will often think of them as beautiful and throw caution to the wind and approach them. Lara normally hunted using this technique. Her pink hair was hard to erase from memories so she embraced this and made herself notable. She’d sit in a bar and have the humans come to her, initiate the conversation, suggest doing further things with her. It is how she actually got Alan, but not on purpose.

Ibis likes being the center of attention and not working so he opts for the latter technique, Lara’s. He’s just unaware of it most of the time. He just thinks he’s lucky that things happen on his favor (he partly is because he’s heir, but it's also due to his vampiric power taking control).

The hungrier they are, the more likely they are to use these mental powers (without knowing or without trying, most of the time). Lara and Vera were trained by their clan on how to use these mental powers to these capacities. The newer generations don’t know how to use it to these extents (they learn something about them because they can read minds and stuff, but that’s about it).

Not much happened after story time. The kids went around getting to know their family better. Ibis sat down to do his homework.  Etrigan got teased by his sisters.  Timothy asked Vera for a bedtime story but she declined, all the ones she could think of included murder and a 6 year old shouldn’t hear such tales yet.

“Hey, Eti, is Troy your boyfriend?” Ashlyn asked him.

“What!? No. Why would he be?”

“He’s here all the time.”

“So? Matthias is here all the time too. Is he your boyfriend?”

“No because he’s engaged to someone else.”

The lighting changed. Vera took a seat on the couch and called out “Kids, kids! Gather round! I'm going to tell you the story of how I came to this city: My father had died-”

“Daddies can die?” One of the kids inquired, worried.

“They can indeed!”

“Aunt Vera, maybe you should-” Ulene interrupted.

“Nonesense. Let's go on!”

The kids had asked aunt Vera for a story and she was getting ready to tell one when Etrigan came home with Troy. They had just gotten out of track practice and were still wearing exercise clothes.

“Hello.” Vera greeted them.

“Hi aunt Vera.” Etrigan said.

“I was about to tell a story. Why don’t you and your friend sit down with your siblings.”

Aunt Vera had decided to come into town with her family for a little Halloween vacation. Ulene invited them over so the kids could get a chance to meet their extended family.

“New hair color.” Ulene commented when he saw his aunt.

“Oh, yeah. I got tired of the purple so I decided to switch to something a little bit closer to home.”
