just like everything else in their lives these perceptions, his view of death itself, was skewed. his view of what “awaits” him at the end of his life, those harsh words tighten around temari’s heart like a vice, and it hurts her. ❝ gaara... ❞ the life of a jinchuriki, the inhumane decisions of the higher ups forced upon him, heartless proposals and sacrifices she couldn’t prevent or protect her little brother from. it’s selfish. this isn’t about her and yet all the revelations cut at her like a knife. it was just them alone in the house. it’s rare for him to be home. she wanted it a safe and happy environment for him, though once again they’re in this difficult position. no matter what, she’ll be there for him. temari sets down the tray of hot tea atop the coffee table before closing in to give her brother, who sits on the couch, a much needed embrace. as a big sister she owes him so many hugs, she can never make up for all the countless times she should’ve been there for him, but wasn’t.
now at least, its a start.
❝ listen to me... you’ve worked harder for atonement and recognition more than anyone else i know. you are our beloved kazekage, and most importantly, you’re my precious baby brother. ❞ her voice is at an gentle, serene octave. all that sharpness she usually harnesses in her voice has melted away, eroded and gone to reveal her more softer side. her hand comes up to brush a few lose strands of hair out of his face. temari wasn’t a religious woman, far from it really; however, she held one belief firm just like the rest of her ideals. ❝ mother, uncle... they’re all going to wait for us on the other side. and one day, i’m certain we’ll join them. ❞ the blond kunoichi pauses, letting a smile lax naturally on her peach lips. her seafoam green eyes, typically stern and cold looking, soften down at him. she tucks a loose piece of red hair behind his ear.
❝ you deserve love and peace, gaara. i have no doubts in my heart that’s what’ll meet you in the end. there will be no more sins for you to atone for in the afterlife.. only warmth and happiness. ❞ she stands briefly to grab ahold of her cupped tea, before sitting down next to him on the sofa. she faces her brother and clamps her free hand over his. temari chuckles, her voice bubbly and carrying a certain light to it. ❝ come now, lets have some tea and catch up. that lazy man back in konoha was kind enough to get me imported tea from his village. we deserve to treat ourselves every now and then, don’t we? ❞
