It wasn’t uncommon for Hunter to be seen around town.  In a single day, the man could be seen uptown during the morning and ending the day at the more familiar downtown.  Hunter had returned to the city later than he anticipated after the invasion;  his powers made an even later appearance.  With his powers back to normal, he had a few people to pay visits to - a few scores to settle and a few other errands to get done.  He also had a meeting with realtor that didn’t go well, but that wasn’t something he would bring up.

During one of his usual tour about the city, he caught a glimpse of a very familiar blond.  At first, Hunter debated on whether or not to approach the woman but as expected, Hunter was never one to think.  He walked over to the woman and greeted her.  “You know, I thought you’d be a lot more difficult to find,” he said, despite not actually looking for her.  He shrugged and grinned at the woman.  “So,” he dragged the syllable out as he eyed her once-over, “I take it you’ve been busy since the whole shebang happened?”

"I met her because Lilith gave me her number a few months ago," Hunter explained.  He nodded slowly as his memory jogged along to the woman in question, "She was amazing.  Is amazing.  I don't know but after Lilith gave me her number and we hooked up, it was fucking great.  I mean it.  Probably one of the best lays I had in my life."  He let out a content sigh at the memory of that amazing night.

"Listen, listen," he said leaning forward, "Let me tell you about when when we met at the bar because I remember it clearly.  She was sitting there already, her hand held up her chin as she spoke to the bartender.  She had a soft laugh, just a light one to be polite at the bad jokes the bartender said.  Though she sat with her legs crossed, I could see the thickness of her thighs peaking out from her skirt, just the right amount."  He sighed, "I should have known she was crazy.  The hottest people usually are."

Hunter shook his head, "After that amazing time in bed, the next morning was a nightmare.  She went through my wallet, my phone, everything in my place.  I don't remember why or what she was doing, but I know she was looking for something.  We had one night together and she acted like we were married.  There was a lot of yelling on her end, tons of shouting in Spanish - luckily I speak it."  He rubbed the back of his, "Damn, I can't believe I forgot how crazy she got after."

And then his face went pale.  A panic appeared in his eyes as they searched around the ground, "She said she was on the pill ...she said she was on ... the pill .. on ... the pill ...," Hunter's voice drifted off as he wondered about how true that was.  He slapped his face and looked horrified, "God fucking damn it."  He shook his head, "No, no.  I'm sure she was on the pill.  I haven't heard from her so I think we're good.  Yeah."

Code Name: Berserker.

Cody was his name. At least, when I first met him. The first time he came up looking for a job, he told me that an alien parasite had forged itself into him. He explained that it only took control of his right arm. I was skeptical because it sounded so strange but then again, this is Ceres Centropolis and strange is normal for us all. It didn’t take long to really understand what he was talking about.

During a job we pulled together, I got to see what he meant by an alien that took over his arm. The alien that burrowed itself into his arm ate the original arm and replaced it with itself - essentially, they are two separate entities tied together as one. It’s strange. However, because of this alien being, he has super strength and regeneration. I think he actually likes having the alien be with him. He’s never alone.

If you ever work with Berserker, I will warn you. His arm is pretty grotesque. There’s no flesh, no skin on his arm. It looks like bare muscle and bones, except for the bright eye on the back of his hand. The eye moves around and stares at you. On his palm is the mouth of the alien. It’s usually closed until they’re in battle. His fingers are just steel knives. I don’t know what alien this is but it’s freaky. Right now, most of him is sane but he has revealed that he worries the alien will completely take over and he’d lose himself. He made me swear to put up the job to kill him if it happens.

28. — hope

Genevieve was three when first saw her mother on the television and understood the hero that her mother was. She sat there glued to the screen whilst her family were busy in the background. Mom will come home soon, she thought, she promised. The small child pressed her hands against the screen when they zoomed in on her face. It was some sort of inspiring speech about the future. She wouldn’t remember most of it later, but like always, her mother was in charge of something meant to protect people. Genny sat back down. One day, she hoped to be standing next to her mother. She hoped to be just as great as her. At the sound of the door opening, the little girl turned her head, and then smiled. “Welcome home!”

6. If you could, would you choose to not have powers?

Aster - “No, they’ve pulled me out of very dark places more times than I can count.”

Liz - “What? Hello? Fuck no, how boring would life as a human be? Also I’d be dead so many times over without my powers. I make very bad decisions.”

Kieran - “Yes. Yes absolutely. If someone knows of a way to get rid of powers please tell me.” 

13. What are the limits to your powers?

Aster - “I can’t control too many plants at once. I don’t know my exact limit but once I tried to control fifty at once and- and it was a mess.”

Liz - “The limit does not exist! I mean, it probably does but I haven’t found anything that I can’t do yet. Unless, oh, I am crap at teleportation. That’s my limit.”

Kieran - “I- I don’t know if the beast has any limits. Though, I can guess it probably gets tired otherwise there would be no point in turning back into me. I hope it does have limits though, I really do.”

16. Have you ever used your powers to scare someone?

Aster - “Yeah, I uh, I tapped Bryan on the shoulder once with a vine when it was a dark out. And when he turned around and saw no one was there? That scream was priceless.” 

Liz - “Literally all the time. It’s my favourite hobby. I think my highlight was the time I brought all the skeletons in the natural history museum to life. On Halloween night. That was some good shit.” 

Kieran - “Not on purpose. I know people are scared of me though. I would be.”

I would say Spring. It’s the most obvious display of change and you’re the person who pushes forth change, progress. Like a sort of reminder that even after a long winter, there is hope for change.
