Summary: Harry stared at the newspaper still spread out in front of him. Malfoy looked like he’d been caught trying to duck away from whoever had snapped the photograph. His shoulders were hunched in his suit jacket, his eyes darted, and he kept shuffling a step behind Narcissa. "Innocent," the headline on this page proclaimed, as the article went on to explain that in contrast to his father, the Malfoy scion had managed to secure himself a walk of freedom. Harry snorted. Malfoy could make a show of looking wan and frightened all he liked; beneath his perfectly pressed shirt sleeve there was a Dark Mark. There was nothing innocent about that.

Oh, Saxteen Retirement AU looks very promising! Any snippets from it yet?

Thanks! 😊 My basic premise is that the Doctor rescues (steals) the Master from UNIT after he re-appears from his tooth-prison (trison). Then, of course, is left with the hopeless task of trying to domesticate him into the Doctor's new retired lifestyle. It goes better (...different) than expected. 🙃 Snippet below:

"I shouldn't have brought you," Donna mused regretfully as they drove home. "I knew I shouldn't have brought you. I even said to myself, 'Donna, he's retired. Doesn't need to be worrying about things like this.' Still…" She tilted her head, clicked her tongue thoughtfully. "Figured you'd want to know. Another Time Lord, and all." "I did. I do," he admitted, eyes on the passenger side window. He was brooding. He knew he was brooding. Not much he could do to shake the mood, though. "Who is he, anyway?" He half-smiled, reminded of her propensity to miss out on significant events in human history. "A friend," he said distractedly, before he caught himself. "Well, no. Sort of. Used to be. He, uh -" The Doctor shifted self-consciously in his chair, tugging his seatbelt looser. "He tried to take over Earth a couple of times, to be honest. Remember that Prime Minister, Harold Saxon? That was him." "Hang on. You're friends with the PM?!" He turned to squint at her. "Donna, n- That's not -" "Well! The things you find out about a person…"

  Summary:

Crowley shakes himself, a mental ripple of scales to slough off the bizarre, high-strung mood that's taken hold of him. He's being ridiculous. Spooked by the threat of newness he isn't even sure is real. Aziraphale has done nothing at all to suggest any of this is out of the ordinary. If anything, Crowley suspects they're both operating under unspoken agreement that things are Getting Back To Normal.

Well. The more recent normal. The normal that had so briefly existed after they'd averted the not-Apocalypse and before the whole almost-Archangel business.

Before Crowley had lost his mind and done something unforgiveable.

AN: Surprise fic?! I kept saying I wouldn't be able to write anything while the specials were airing, but this is the magic that happens with a few days off work and the return of functional energy levels. Wanted to get it out before the last episode kills me dead. 🙃
