The chanting for shots had reached a crescendo overtaking the music, and CJ was definitely one of the loudest, clapping his hands and cheering as he watched the group surrounding them down the drinks. He didn't really know them, just sort of came across them by happenstance, but they accepted CJ as one of their own, which to him was the more important thing. He was about to take his own shot when he noticed Verda, holding the glass up in the air as offering it to her.

"Hey! Free Treat Lady!" He called, as if he didn't know her name, "Come take a shot! Apparently I'm your wife's long-lost brother which makes me your long-lost brother-in-law, and I'm hella big on family time!"

Boundaries may still be something of an issue for the native New Yorker, especially for one that never had much privacy in her formative years. So, excited with news, Hana casually let herself into her friend's place and looked around for her until she found her still asleep in bed. Not wanting to startle the woman, she took care in getting onto the open side of the bed and crawled over to the side Verda was curled up on her side and was all grin as she leaned over the baker's shoulder. "Hey, there's some news I forgot to share with you," she informed in a somewhat quieter voice.

Freddie had adamantly refused to slow down in spite of doctor's orders following his release from the hospital. He had a cigar lounge in development and more motivation than ever to get it up and running by the end of the summer. Sooner, if he had his way. While he gave his word to Carla to cut back on his amusements, he refused to stay off his feet or put off business. He'd had a brilliant idea over night and reached out to pitch an offer, the likes of which he presumed couldn't be refused.

"Ms. Durmaz.. so pleased you could make it." He greeted once the woman stepped into his private study, escorted by his housekeeper who quickly made herself scarce. "Can I get you a drink?"

It was just another night where Ingrid was in charge of closing and making sure everything would be in place before opening the nightclub tomorrow. Grabbing her belongings before heading out, she was happy to wait as long as she needed for Verda to come and give her a lift -- knowing that it was a far better option than having to walk all the way to Bighorn Hills in the cold weather. Reaching for her phone to check the time and her texts, Ingrid stood in front of Le Cirque, glancing over the road every time a car drove by. The night was cold, and the streets empty -- but what was odd for her was an unusual sense of unease creeping over her.

Ignoring the catcalling coming from a group of people crossing the street, Ingrid kept her eyes glued to the screen of her phone, scrolling through her Instagram feed to keep herself busy. Still, nothing prepared her for what was about to happen. She never heard footsteps approaching from behind. Before she could react, someone grabbed her from behind, pinning her arms to her side.

"Give me your phone and your money," he demanded, his breath reeking of alcohol. A minute passed, wondering if this was some sort of a joke, before the brunette realized the person behind her was a complete stranger and that was enough to send goosebumps down her spine.

"Fuck off --" she shouted, struggling to free herself from his grip. "Fucking let go."

Yao wasn't sure what he was supposed to say. He agreed that the other woman was attractive, but he didn't think Verda really want him to say as much. He wasn't even sure how he would feel if she indicated attraction to another person in front of him, but figured it wouldn't feel good. He merely smiled and nodded, giving her wraps one last check before letting go of her hands. "Yeah.. sure." He padded toward the punching bag he'd been eyeing. "Do you know how to throw a punch?"

where: peak seasons hotel 

Ximena waited patiently for Verda at the Peak Seasons hotel’s restaurant, nervously tapping her fingers on the table. Frankly, she was surprised the woman even agreed to her see her, considering the amount of ridiculous questions she has for her; Ximena was at a loss when it came to her daughter’s complicated past. She was afraid to ask Emmy and scare her away, and yet she wanted answers, so she figured there’s no harm in asking Verda. Worst case scenario, she’ll decline- but no, she agreed and eventually arrived, looking as great as ever. The older woman waved at her awkwardly, finding it weird how their dynamics changed; from maybe-lovers, to an ex-mother-in-law kind of relationship. That was truly strange to think about. “Hey, thank you for meeting with me.” She acknowledged her gratitude. “You want something to eat? My treat.” She offered in a much less flirty manner than Verda was used to.

Whilst it wasn’t the best in town, sometimes when CJ was on a comedown all he needed was a bagel with everything (and more) on it. And paired with a coffee that was more akin to tar than an actual drink, it was exactly the perfect remedy for his booming head. Adorned in sunglasses that had been left around the apartment - pink and a bit too small for his head - he was waiting against the counter for his order to come up when he spotted Verda. “Hey!” He called, voice way too loud for the small establishment. “It was your wedding, right? With the free tattoos? That shit was sick!” He himself didn’t get inked, but it had been fun to see. “Congrats by the way, your wife is hella lucky!”

“I know it’s my day off and you have another hour to go, but I thought to stop by and bring you dinner.” Ingrid let out, peaking into the empty shop with the brightest smile on her face. It was freezing cold, and with the end of the holidays things were calming down at last. “And if you tell me I have to go and relax, let me remind you it’s super cold, and I have to be at the club later..” Which was exactly why the brunette came by to see if Ver needed anything, and cover for her while she had her favourite dish. “So.. surprise? It’s been only fifteen hours since the last time you saw me.”
