Verema in Catalan means "grape harvest". In the Northern Hemisphere, it takes place between July and October, depending on the grape variety and climate conditions. Here, most of it takes place in early September, but this year, as a result of climate change, some varieties of grape have had their harvest as early as July!
Wine making has a long history in Catalonia, it has been made for millennia. There are many parts of Catalonia where wine and cava (Catalan champagne) making is a huge part of the local industry. Nowadays, you can find Catalan wines from Priorat, Penedès, Pla de Bages, Costers del Segre and other denomination of origins all around the world.
This video was posted last year on the Instagram page of the Pla de Bages denomination of origin (dopladebages).
