Okay but we just know when Matt and Sylvie do work it out, Matt is gonna be there when Sylvie can’t find a cat post/tree she likes online so he builds her one!
And of course he has to get in Veroni cats good graces so she’ll be spoiled by Matt frequently and comes to expect him to lean down every morning he’s there so she can jump onto his shoulders and lounge on him while he makes coffee for him and Sylvie.
Don’t even get me started on the catnip tea Matt finds in a market and just has to get!
Matt arriving at her door with the tree and a hot glue gun burn from wrapping the rope around it so Veronicat can scratch without damaging the wood. It’s in multiple pieces and by the time he finished getting it fully assembled it’s taller than he is and as soon as he finishes the car is climbing and Sylvie’s breathing a sigh of relief cause she really didn’t want to replace The Couch but if Veronicat kept scratching the legs she’d have to.
The first night Matt stays over and he’s not wearing a shirt while he makes their coffee, so Veronicat goes from the counter to his head, sitting up there like a hat till he lifts her down and that’s when he knows the cats accepted him cause she doesn’t scratch him.
Matt making him and Sylvie steak for dinner and Sylvie asks why there’s a spare one that isn’t seasoned does he want her to do it and he runs over like “NOPE” and cuts it up small and puts it in Veronicat’s bowl instead of her kibble.
They’re in a pet shop to buy a new toy and he finds a catnip ball and gets it for her, and whenever Veronicat plays with it she curls up in Matt’s lap, so their chill evenings involve Sylvie curled into his side on the couch and Veronicat over their laps.
He never thought he’d let a cat sleep in his bed but ends up that the lil area behind his knees when he and Sylvie are spooning before sleep is Veronicat’s favourite place to be.
Sylvie picks up an overtime shift and is partnered with Diggins, who’s shocked that her phone lock and home screens are her, Matt and Veronicat.
When they have a child they’re super worried because they know what Veronicat’s like around anyone who isn’t them, but from the moment Sylvie starts showing her favourite spot is Sylvie’s belly. Once the baby comes if anyone comes NEAR the baby’s crib that isn’t Sylvie or Matt they get hissed at. Kelly ends up with a scratch on his arm that Sylvie treats and can’t stop apologising for, but he just laughs that they ended up with a guard cat.
They’re not trying for a second baby, but they’re not not trying either. Just before Sylvie’s period is due Veronicat starts curling up on Sylvie’s belly again, and they skip the home pregnancy test and just call the doctor’s office for an appointment because they know their cat (and the cat’s right of course). When the baby’s a girl they almost call her Veronica but think that’s just slightly too weird.
