Kyoka Izumi comes from a family of assassins. A branch of Shadows House exists in Japan, and after getting chosen to serve the Shadows Family, she is brainwashed and assigned a Shadow Master. Izumi is the Living Doll, while Kyoka is the Shadow.
More Elaborate Explanation:
As a member of a well-known family of assassins, Kyoka was both revered and feared by her peers at school. However, she worked hard to get chosen by Shadows House to make her family proud, not realizing what it truly meant to serve the Shadows Family. Like the rest of the Living Dolls, she is brainwashed by the soot coffee and now, going by Izumi as named by her Shadow Master, serves Kyoka with the highest loyalty, even if it means threatening or even harming her peers.
Kyoka and Izumi could not be more opposite if they tried. While Kyoka is warm and fascinated by the world, viewing her role as a noble through the lens of a curious, ignorant child, Izumi's training as an assassin is ingrained into her very being, and no amount of soot coffee can undo that sort of bone-deep instinct. Izumi is willing to protect her master by any means necessary, while Kyoka tries to steer her in the opposite direction, diffusing situations without any use of violence.
Kyoka's Soot Power, Controller, allows her to command others through her soot, controlling their actions or emotions through a trigger word. She doesn't like using it, however, since she does not like having to use violence to solve her problems. The only person she has used it on has been Izumi herself, in order to rein her in when she goes too far.
Hailing from a family of assassins, Kyoka Izumi has 35 victims in total. However, the one she feels the most guilt for is the death of her mother, who ordered Kyoka to kill her to end her suffering.
Prisoner 4 in a non-canon MILGRAM setting, Prisoner 12 in a setting with the canon prisoners.
Guilty Trial One, Innocent Trial Two, uncertain for Trial Three.
Her behavior is similar yet different to Amane.
In Trial Two, since she was voted Innocent, she would likely attempt to harm either one of the other prisoners or the warden. This is because she doesn't understand how they could change their mind so easily, and she lashes out towards her fellow prisoners.
tl;dr: the night at the bar, kaveh does not go with alhaitham. he becomes involved with the sabzeruz festival and is killed, both as a warning to kaveh to stop digging and as a lesson to those of sumeru who wish to worship lesser lord kusanali so openly. ill dottore revives him as part of his experiments with the akashic terminals. this is a success, though kaveh retains little to no memory of his life in sumeru. he is given a new name and a new purpose - yahya of the fatui, sworn to serve the tsaritsa and her goals.
he re-enters the story at the same point, after the crisis in sumeru has ended. he remains behind as the eyes and ears of the doctor and one of the only holders of a functioning akasha terminal.
history: that night at the bar, at his very lowest, kaveh refuses the invitation to stay in alhaitham's home. it feels too much like giving up. too much like accepting that he was wrong, that his beliefs are wrong - not the way he went about enacting them. to accept the invitation feels like co-signing onto alhaitham's view of the world as he understands it, and that is so grim and bleak he declares he would rather die than live in a world where people live only for themselves.
he has no idea how prophetic the words are to be.
that night, camping in the wilderness, lesser lord kusanali meets kaveh in his dreams. he does not recall most of the dream, only that she is a warm and comforting presence. everything he believes knowledge should be. a light in the dark, the tools to give the suffering some sense of peace. the people of sumeru are lost, he declares, and the akasha terminals have ruined their capacity to think for themselves. to see the world beyond puzzles that must be solved, and people are hurdles rather than assets.
and when he wakes, he no longer feels as aimless. there is a path forward that he sees all too clearly, and all he grown tired of in sumeru is the akademiya and it's overreach.
the efforts to revive the sabzeruz festival gain much more traction when the light of kshahrewar himself joins in. the actual festival is months away, but the fact that it being planned - that a famous scholar has joined in on the efforts - immediately gets traction.
people who hadn't previously seen kaveh's vision now see it at his hip, and rumors start to spread. he has been chosen by lesser lord kusanali to bring them into a new age of wisdom. kaveh had never minded the whispers of others much, as the only expectations he had ever worried about failing were his own and his client's - but if he'd heeded those warnings, he may have been better prepared for what happened.
when word came from the akademiya that his proposal had been approved, he has confused. what proposal? he had been funding this work on his own and with the aid of the desert folk - who were more eager to assist an endeavor for kusanali if her people were kinder than that of rukkadevata. still, he goes to the meeting place that the head of his darshan asks. they have a pleasant dinner, a few drinks - the taste of which is off - and kaveh grows concerned that questions about his supposed proposal are dodged.
they walk the docks of port ormos afterwards, though kaveh insists that he is not feeling well after that meal and wants to go home. thjat kind nature is taken advantage of, as the man says he wishes to discuss something important. he has been carrying a heavy weight and wishes to share it.
they stop short and stare at the water, and the man laments that kaveh has thrown away a bright future in pursuit of fruitless dreams. he was always a dreamer, that's what made his work stand out, but he does not care for or respect the spirit of knowledge. it brings him no joy to do this to the most promising alumni in centuries.
what he says is truly upsetting is that in the end, kaveh hadn't even earned this through his own merits. it had been his friendship with the scribe that sealed his fate. he would be a message to all.
there's no room for elaboration. kaveh can't even process what he's being told, uncertain if alhaitham ordered this or - if this is meant ot harm him.
regardless, there in the docks on a dark summer night, kaveh meets his end.
he flings mehrak as far from himself as he can once it takes too much damage to pull his sword free. they deliver death unto him brutally, and staged to look like angry debt collectors. and as he lay dying, the doctor steps from the shadows and asks if they have any further use for him once the message has been sent.
he's found in the morning, laying haphazardly on the shores. a dumped body that resurfaced. those lovely hands smashed and broken.
the details of the architect's ruined financials filter out, that he was less a light and more a bringer of ruin. it looks cut and dry. a debt collector had come to collect.
rumors of non-existent fundraisers slip into the conversation, leaving people to assume him nothing more than a charlatan and a fraud. destroying the budding reputation that the festival had.
before an autopsy can be performed, the body goes missing. those dedicated to recreating the sabzeru festival do not give up, and they are determined to see it through. not believing for a second that kaveh was taking them for a ride, and determined to not let his death be in vain.
elsewhere, the doctor carries on with his work.
a broken bird of paradise awakens in his laboratory. the glittering green vision resting atop his chest no longer gives off a glow, but the light at his temple does. this akashic terminal glows with the blue of cryo. all the information that could possibly exist within it has been downloaded into his mind, most of it partitioned away so it doe snot overwhelm him. this process, and the modifications to the terminal itself, makes up for the parts of his brain too damaged to continue to function on their own. the terminal regulates the processes his body should know how to do, allowing him to breathe, his heart to beat, his body to move when he wants it.
the drug slipped into his drink done a decent job of keeping him in a death-like state without actually crossing that threshold into death, but the damage was extensive. recovery, too, would be a nightmare. impossible were it not for this little gift.
when the bird is finally well enough to take wing, Il Dottore bestows upon it a new name, yahya and the codename uccello del paradiso. and with this name, a new mission - to serve the tsaritsa and burn away the world.
yahya does not know what happened to him, only that the cruelty of the existing world is what caused his suffering. he knows that he would have died, were it not for Il Dottore intervention. he is grateful to have been saved, though he remembers so little about his life before he feels he may as well be a new being.
his hands are strong enough to hold a sword, but the fine motor control necessary to write or paint has been lost due to a mixture of the damage to his mind and hands. he is still deceptively strong despite that willowy frame. even more so than before, as the modifications to his body and brain allow him to use more strength than what a normal person should be capable of without harming themselves.
his mind is sharp as ever, and the modifications to the akashic terminal allow him to more directly interface with ancient technology. most of his work has been in the investigation of king deshret's ruins and the so-called 'forbidden knowledge'.
he is most often seen in a modified version of a fatui agent's outfit, though the colors mirror that of ill dottore's harbinger uniform. he is also most often seen with a mask, meant to cover up the altered color of his akashic terminal and to hide his face from any who would recognize it in these lands. though there is light scarring across his face, he still looks like himself... though his eyes have changed. they're flat and lifeless.
the most concerning feature of his new existence is that at any point, his eyes can be looked through. his ears lsistened through. his voice used to say another's words. his autonomy hijacked and used used for the fatui's goal's. and he won't remember anything about it.
personality: yahya is still kind, though no longer the sort of person who burns himself alive just to warm others for a second. he is still compassionate to the deserving, but far more willing to lash out at those who throw their weight around to punish the unworthy. in many ways, he is the version of himself alhaitham wanted him to be. he priortizes himself and his safety above all others, though that leaves a coldness to him that is difficult to ignore and hard to witness to those who knew him before.
he is far more quick to violence. pacifism obviously did him no good in the past. and what good is doing good if the evil are still there to reap it's benefits?
there is a greedier, hungier edge to him - all to fill the void of loneliness and grief for a life that was robbed of him. yahya can't remember anything about who or what he was. he was told that he was killed for debts owed, and that he should blame the gods for it. as if the god he so loved had helped him, this could have been avoided. thanks to the modifications to the akasha terminal keeping him alive, nahida can't even enter his mind to set the record straight.
he can't pursue the softer things that brought him joy due to the damage he sustained before his death and revival. he collects mora as some holdover of the stress he used to have around it, though he has little to spend it on. nothing really sparks that joy and passion beyond the idea of creating, and he finds his new limitations too frustrating to deal with to pursue that.
while he is far from hostile to most people, he holds little love for sumeru. what he can recall - the phantoms of memories, nothing concrete - does not speak of a life filled with joy. but of loneliness, abandonment, and an untimely end at the hands of people he had trusted. he doesn't think he was much mourned, and doesn't realize that his death set both alhaitham and cyno on a path that ultimately lead to the changes in sumeru he had long desired.
NAME:// todd, jason peter
AGE:// twenty four
JAEGER:// currently unassigned
HEIGHT:// six foot zero inches
WEIGHT:// one seventy five
SUMMARY:// born to willis and catherine todd in gotham city. jason was on his own for most of his childhood and learned to take care of himself at far too early an age. with his father in and out of prison almost constantly, it was up to jason to look after his mother and keep her safe - both from outside threats and from her own drug habit. and when jason is thirteen years old, willis is killed in a prison riot, leaving the two of them on their own.
jason supported his mother for a time with petty theft, stealing and selling whatever he could to buy food and medicine for her. when he reached fifteen, he started lying about his age in order to work whatever jobs he could find - it helped that he looked older than he was.
it’s at the age of seventeen that the first kaiju attack comes, and later in the year the pan pacific defense corps is established, searching for pilots and trainees for the jaeger academy. jason considers enlisting, but knows there would be no one to look after catherine, who was finally starting to improve some. so he doesn’t, until - when jason is twenty two years of age - catherine regresses badly and jason finds himself woefully unprepared for the medical costs her condition accrues. it’s at this time that jason finally enlists, with the promise that catherine will be taken care of and her medical care paid for, so long as jason does well in the academy.
about three months into the program, jason gets a call that catherine has run away from the rehab center she’d been staying at, just as sirens warning of an incoming kaiju attack start to sound. jason leaves to search in desperation for his mother, but by the time he manages to find her at their ( now abandoned ) old family home, it’s too late to make it to a shelter. the city is ravaged, and their home destroyed. catherine is killed in the subsequent collapse, and an ensuing fire nearly claims jason. he’s found by the relief effort and recovers eventually, but his chest and back are left with severe burn scars.
as soon as he recovers, jason re - enlists at the academy shortly after his twenty fourth birthday, unsure of where else to go and determined to make a difference so that no one else has to lose family the way he did. his test scores & combat skills put him at the very top of his classes, but the memories of his mother’s death and the fire which nearly took him keep him from successfully drifting - one classmate who tries to drift with him is unable to handle jason’s trauma and becomes unresponsive for several weeks following, leading to all sorts of rumors and vitriol.
after a poor strategic call combined with one of the worst kaiju attacks to date wipes out nearly half of the PPDC’s pilots, they start bringing in anyone they can to fill the ranks out again - including rookies like jason and retired pilots like steve rogers.
needless to say, they’ve got the world looking over their shoulders.
𝐖𝐇𝐄𝐍 𝐒𝐇𝐄 𝐓𝐎𝐎𝐊 𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐓𝐄𝐒𝐓 𝐀𝐒 𝐀 𝐂𝐇𝐈𝐋𝐃 𝐓𝐎 𝐅𝐈𝐍𝐃 𝐎𝐔𝐓 𝐇𝐄𝐑 𝐅𝐔𝐓𝐔𝐑𝐄 𝐎𝐂𝐂𝐔𝐏𝐀𝐓𝐈𝐎𝐍 , 𝐆𝐀𝐄𝐀 𝐋𝐘𝐒𝐈𝐌𝐀𝐂𝐇𝐈𝐀 𝐑𝐄𝐂𝐄𝐈𝐕𝐄𝐃 𝐓𝐄𝐀𝐂𝐇𝐄𝐑. it made sense. even with being a child herself , she loved babies , politely asking parents if she could get closer , cooing over them. she was one of those children , that cut out pictures from magazines that aligned with her idea of her future wedding. she knew how big she wanted her family to be. had an idea of what her future husband would look like. and her mother humored her , told her they would see once the big day came. she didn’t live past gaea’s ninth birthday. that imagination was used for other things: a world where she had a living mother & a father who cared. and that imagination helped her survive , coupled with books & after-school activities. eventually , her father died as well. and she fled the big city , collecting the money that usually only comes from loss & running away.
she received teacher as her future occupation. she became a reserve deputy. the entire reason she even chose hope county was for how welcome everyone was , treating her like she was already one of them when she was just passing through. it was a small thing , to her. gaea’s main occupation became the herbs she grew in her backyard , the natural beauty items she sold for so much less than corporations. she had a kiosk at the farmer’s market & it was enough for her. becoming a reserve deputy was about seeing a need & filling it. hell , it may have even been because she remembers trying to settle a dispute between two people & being told she should join ‘ so she could get paid for butting into people’s businesses , rather than just doing it.’ the picture painted was that there would be little violence & a lot of false calls. only working 120 hours a year meant that the stresses of the job could be washed away with her usual daily living.
𝐀𝐓 𝐋𝐄𝐀𝐒𝐓 𝐔𝐍𝐓𝐈𝐋 𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐌𝐀𝐑𝐒𝐇𝐀𝐋𝐋 𝐂𝐀𝐌𝐄.
she knew things were getting bad in hope county. she was a civilian when the shit started hitting the fan , seeing businesses occupied by peggies rather than the people she had come to love. gaea forced herself to believe that , small as they were , the police force would be able to do something. and she was admittedly elated when she got the call. people tended to listen so much more when they saw a badge ( or at least the logical ones were ). she’s not expecting for eli to ask for her help in the marshall’s quest. knows they wouldn’t have the reserve help unless things were dire & everyone else is spread too thin ( it’s only later she finds out many are dead at the time of the call ). the name seed is spoken with either reverence or hate; the project viewed as salvation or complete bullshit. she just wants to do her part. she’s come to know the seeds as well as any other neighbor so slapping handcuffs on joseph feels ... wrong.
especially considering how he looks at her.
𝐓𝐋; 𝐃𝐑: gaea is a reserve deputy in hope county & the lucky dep that gets to slap cuffs on joseph seed. considering her hate for violence & desire for peace , the following events will threaten to rip her apart. and just may succeed.
𝐖𝐄𝐀𝐏𝐎𝐍𝐒: gaea prefers stealth over anything else. she usually uses her compound bow , outfitted with a red dot scope. she is also equip with a 308 carbine , that has a long range scope & a supressor cylinder , as well as her assigned p226. despite herself , she was tickled pink by the shovel launcher big farma but immediately dropped it the moment she impaled a peggie into a cilo with a shovel. she leans towards remote explosives more so than anything else & usually to break into safes.
𝐒𝐏𝐄𝐂𝐈𝐀𝐋𝐈𝐒𝐓𝐒: with boomer’s knack of alerting her to enemies nearby & jess’ own stealth , gaea tends to travel with them more often than not. though she absolutely adores cheeseburger & is at least friendly with a good number of the other specialists , it’s usually only when she liberates cult outposts that she changes things up. and when she does and peace doesn’t seem to be an option? she has cheeseburger and nick to watch her back.
𝐏𝐄𝐑𝐊𝐒: survivalist: king of the jungle , reduced animal attack damage. predators outside of judges prioritize nearby prey over you. prey animals flee less from you. black market , craftable remote explosives , proximity explosives , molotovs , pipe bombs , sticky upgrades & special ammo are available at all shops. renegade: parachute. saboteur , can approach a vehicle’s hood and set it on fire to make it explode ten seconds later. assassin: grapple.
( a lot of the perks have to do with storage or skills gaea does or doesn’t have. i basically wanted to concentrate on extra things she has , like the parachute & grapple , and things she learned such as saboteur. when it comes to being able to reload faster , being extra stealthy , things like that , the former isn’t feasible because she’s not a fighter like that & the latter is just going to be a given , i think. )

the only good thing to come out of the apocalypse is that no one really questions why a BABYSITTER of all people knows how to use a variety of guns or how to wield a knife. no one has time to. not when death lurks around every corner, not when every person has been soaked in terrible despair. people are just glad when harukawa isn’t pointing her weapons at them.
when the tragedy first started to leak out of hope’s peak academy and onto the streets -- when the parade began to grow so loud it was overwhelming -- harukawa was one of the first people to leave the school. many thought it was a bad idea. many begged her to stay, thinking that it wouldn’t last, that this was all just a temporary issue. harukawa knew better. she could see the cold flames behind the eyes of those reserve course students.
a week after she left, the reserve course broke in and killed as many ultimate students as they could get their hands on before committing mass suicide.
harukawa’s first and only priority is keeping her children safe. it doesn’t matter how many people she has to kill, or how many wounds she inflicts on her body. as long as she stays standing, she will ensure that the orphanage remains untouched by the effects of the tragedy. so even when one of the caretakers goes mad with despair and harukawa has to kill her before she can hurt anyone else in the home, even when riots shake the walls of the home and terrify the children inside, harukawa will stand strong.
some tidbits:
- harukawa is the only “caretaker” left in the orphanage. all the others fled to be with their families when the riots broke out, or they went mad with despair and she had to... get rid of them.
- she frequently has to run out for supplies. whenever she does, she piles all the children into the home’s basement and barricades the doors as best she can. it’s on these supply runs that threads with other people are most likely to happen.
- while on these runs, if harukawa finds any lost children or anything, she is taking them back to the orphanage with her.
- anyone that gets too close to the orphanage is getting taken out. harukawa spends most of her time staring out the window, protecting from the riots. it doesn’t matter what you are: robot, human, remnant of despair. as long as you’re not a child or someone she recognizes, you’re getting dispatched.
VERSE INFORMATION - && YOU CANNOT WIN A WAR WITH JUST FANGS AND ANGER. ( v. golden deer. )
since i’m still on my fe/3h braincell. and since i haven’t posted this yet. mario vc: here we go!
Lev hails from the Leicester Alliance, content with his time spent in plains and mountains. He is in Golden Deer and is unrecruitable.
While he is considered a commoner due to his mother, his father is a noble from the Holy Kingdom of Faerghus who discarded his title to marry a woman he had fallen in love with. While Lev does not particularly discuss this branch of his family, he will not disclose any information if someone asks. His father has left the life of a noble behind, and Lev respects that!
He is open to all chatter and will talk to anyone he finds, even if they give him little room to make conversation. That being said, a lot of the teachers find him to be a little... disruptive, so he’s more popular among the students than he is the teachers.
