He watched for days, weeks, maybe. It seemed impossible to make any kind of contact. The last thing he wanted was for any of his friends to feel guilty, he knew if it had been anyone else that died, he would have felt guilty so it seemed like a silly thing to hope for.
“You need to shave, you idiot,” he said, although it wasn’t like he thought Richie would hear him.

“You say that, but do you believe it?” the smile breaks through the tears that are welling up in her sea like eyes. She lays back against the wall, every fiber in being telling her to run. She needed to get the hell out of there and as far from him as possible. Yet, her soul ached for this warmth, the comfort he gave her. Some would call it love, but her--she feared, no matter the name. “Everything, everything I’ve done, every lie, every fuckin’ thing--Why would want to keep me around? After knowing...” She leans into the wall, hoping it would consume her--hide here away, save her from her own self. Save him...”Why? Why do you still want me here?”

Her soft giggle faded into a sigh as an uncharacteristic shyness washed over her. “Not this, not you--” She slowly turns to lay on her side to see him better; giving herself a moment to catch her words. He jumbled her thoughts and left her speechless--did he even know the power he had over her? “I planned on finding my place, getting a real start here, but then I walked into that bar and sat down next to you.” She averts her eyes, her face turning red as she speaks the truth. “I didn’t think we’d--not so soon, but I’d do it again. Everything. I wouldn’t change any of this.”

@ejlizzie it was freezing in the lobby of the museum, and from the moment a chill struck him, Charles resented his sister for dragging him here. she could not be here, of course, which explained why he was obligated to be. she had purchased a piece some weeks ago but couldn't plan far enough ahead to approve it in person as was curator policy. fortunately, Charles loved his sister and was not adept enough at lying to refuse her. so here he stood in the icy lobby, waiting.
