It had only been a few days since he returned from the duelling dimension. And yet they felt like years to Jaden.

Thanks to Jaden and Bastion’s efforts they had managed to create a super diffusion card to counter super polymerisation’s abilities. Not only that but Jaden was able to separate Yubel from the light of destruction and make them human again. To bury the hatchet Jaden also used the card on himself to separate himself from the supreme king.

Free from their dark influences Haou and Yubel were now able to rule the other dimension in peace and send everyone back home as a way for atoning for their actions.

This should’ve meant happily ever after right?

Jaden sighed as he looked to Jesse who was recovering in the bed beside him in the infirmary. “How are you feeling Jess?”

Jaden sighed as he lay on the roof of Duel Academy.

So why did Jaden feel so hollow? Feel so worthless?

Without Haou he couldn’t see duel spirits anymore. But that was a price worth paying to save everyone right?

Even so Jaden felt lonelier than ever. Especially without duel spirits and he was honestly afraid of his friends. Afraid that they didn’t want him around anymore after all the trouble he caused them.

He didn’t hear anyone approaching as he lay there. Muttering to himself. “I never thought the world could be so quiet...”

Open Starter

Jaden choked on a sob as he was consumed by the shadows. Captured by some new evil who had trapped him in this place. Daring his friends to come rescue him.

They won’t... Jaden sighed... I know they won’t

He felt the shadows consume him. “I loved and loved but I was never good enough... I always chose to be kind even to those who didn’t deserve it... I... I’m such an idiot..”

He let out a sob. “Please... someone help....”

Jaden sighed as he sat on the edge of the cliff. He’d kind of been avoiding everyone after what happened in the other world, his actions as the supreme king. So many people had died because of him and lots of harsh words had been exchanged between friends.

He had also lost his ability to talk to duel spirits and worse still his passion for duelling. He was still at duel academy but he wasn’t sure for how long.

He heard someone approaching him so he went with his standard greeting. “If you’re here for a duel you have the wrong guy...”

“All the better now I saw you!” Jaden grinned and hugged him tightly.

He hadn’t seen Aster since the events in the dark world. Having lost his ability to see duel spirits and being in a coma for a week he wasn’t sure who was ok and who made it back. But now he was glad to see the pro duelist.

Thank god he was ok…

“I’m ok… I just missed you…”

Jaden chuckled through tears as he looked up at Chazz. "admire me...? a screw up who got all his friends killed and hurt millions of innocent people? I'm not someone worth admiring Chazz..."

Jaden just stared at Jesse in shock and disbelief.

“Jesse how can you say that so confidently!!” He’s shaking. “Don’t you know about the things I’ve done!? I became the supreme king! I sacrificed all my friends!! They hate me for what I’ve done!! And instead of defeating Yubel like I should I have I used the super de-fusion card to seperate myself from Haou and make them human again!! I gave them what they wanted!!”

He backed away “and now I can’t see duel spirits anymore... I don’t know where your Pal is Jesse... but he’s certainly not here... the only person here is a monster...”

“Stop acting like I’m the bane of your existence! Ok!? I didn’t ask to be the hero! I didn’t ask for you to be put in this position and I didn’t ask to be the supreme king and I sure as hell didn’t ask to lose my ability to see duel spirits!! I’m not special Chazz and you know what!? Neither are you!!”
