When they still had the mindset to aid others who seemed to be in trouble. Letting out a deep sigh, she poked at a branch protruding out of the snow with the toe of her boot - testing if it was loose. They were on firewood duty, using the time to discuss with the two newcomers who stayed and tended to the fire. Keeping within sight.

❝ These two seem alright though - nothing about them is raising any flags. They seemed genuinely thankful for having our help back there. ❞

We found a car with half a tank. That's a goddamn miracle.

A huff slips past her lips, one that could be taken as an astonished laugh. She tilts her head slightly, examining the inside of the vehicle. It wasn't in terrible shape. Some dirt and debris blew in from the windows being left open. But it was better than having to drag out a dead body and having to sit in what was left behind...

Straightening herself out, eyes scan the area around them, making sure they are the only ones there. There's something about this jackpot that brings some doubt. This did seem too good to be true. Nowadays, coming across something like this runs the risk of it being a setup. Ranger didn't seem too on edge, giving her some hope that this was just a moment of sheer luck. ❝ We should still be careful- ❞

❝ Where did you find this? ❞ Circe felt almost giddy when Shiloh pulled a can of coffee from her bag. It had been weeks since either of them had had a cup of the jitter juice, pine needle tea could only do so much. So of course she was excited. ❝ Either way...you're a saint among men. ❞

They sat, feet dangling off the side of the fire tower. They called it home for the last couple of nights, keeping dry from the heavy summer rain that had plagued them the last few days. The rain must have ended during the early hours, waking up to clear skies and a golden sunrise that seemed almost picturesque as it rose over the mountains.

The boys were still asleep inside and the girls didn't seem to be in any hurry to wake them. They were taking in the quiet and peaceful moment before they would eventually have to leave their temporary shelter and head out. Circe laid a hand a top Ranger's head, giving him a good scritch behind the ear, the dog had been laying beside her as if he too was enjoying the sight.

Circe had been watching the pair since she came into the area, keeping to the forest line while trying to gain a read on them. They seemed friendly enough, a man and his daughter, but that's what was difficult to figure out. Whenever there was a kid involved, things tended to be a bit more tense and hostile.

Eyes gaze down to her canine companion, Goose, who was standing quietly at attention beside her. A hand gesture was given when they had made eye contact, signaling for him to make his way over to the duo. She, on the other hand, hangs back for a second to watch.

Circe watched the flames of the small campfire lick at the cool night air as she enjoyed the unexpected massage. Grateful to finally be resting, today's travels were more strenuous than she had originally thought. Having carried Ranger on multiple occasions due to some parts of their path being difficult for her K-9 companion to navigate. Her head tilts downward, letting out a soft sigh once he hits a tense spot. ❝ Right there. ❞

Part of the floor had rotted out, neither of them realizing until Shi's leg was through it. For the time being Circe had wrapped some gauze around it, but they needed to get back to their little safe zone to properly treat it. ❝ We gotta get back to camp, think you could walk on it? ❞
