This is one of my favorite scriptures... such enlightenment & encouragement in these words from the Apostle Paul. As believers we are made brand-new people, in Christ, on the INSIDE! The Holy Spirit gives us NEW life, so we are not the same, not held back by our past or who we were before. We are not reformed, rehabilitated, or merely re-educated—we are entirely re-created (new creations) and living in a fresh relationship with Christ! At conversion (the point we are born again, made brand-new) we are not merely turning over a new leaf; we are beginning a completely new life under the rule our sovereign Lord & Savior, Jesus Christ. And while this newness is so true for us as individuals, Paul is saying a lot more here... not only are we as believers changed from within, but a whole new order of creative energy began with Christ. There is a new covenant, a new promise, a new perspective, a new body, a new church. All of creation is being renewed and we need to take notice. This is not a superficial change that will pass or be overruled in time... this is an entirely new order of all creation under Christ's authority.
