Year 2 Core Project 1 Asset Design/Hard Surface (Painted) Finally got around to vertex painting my Onigiri. Hoping I can learn how to render vertex paint so I can run this through Arnold! Very happy with how this came out!
Year 2 - Core Project 1 Asset Design/Vertex Painting/Refresher I used Alistair’s model he donated of a car to practice vertex painting for the first time, something really quite simple and suprisingly fun! Though I encountered an issue when trying to render Vertex paint, and online tutorials seemed to of been no help. Will continue to experiment with this with my own models in the next week, and hopefully be able to fully render using Arnold with vertex paint.

WEEK l: Maya Refresh/Vertex Painting
♦ Alongside the low-poly food model that we had to create, we were asked to create a low-poly model of one character/environment from a 2D animated series. I choose to go with Bertie from Netflix’s animated series Tuca & Bertie. I think my model came out looking a bit silly but that’s fine because I’m practising.

WEEK l: Maya Refresh/Vertex Painting
♦ This is my low-poly, flat-coloured model I made in Maya using block-modelling and the paint vertex colour tool. I decided to go for something super simple and cereals couldn’t be a better option.

26/08/18 Vertex Painting!
Okay, I was supposed to do something by Saturday but did not get into it lol… my fault really! I’m not going to make any excuse as Friday I did not get right into it as video games again ruin my day lol. Okay by Saturday I did something I was mapping out an idea for a 20 seconds short animation about bouncing fox and squirrel I have downloaded. I was laying out the floor for the scene until I had an idea to do a story which I decided to create a prop from foreground trees, grassland, and bush. I only use basic shapes mainly cube and sphere and colour it using vertex painting which I remember from using it at my UNI before.
So that was my weekend guys but tomorrow I promise I will be starting to animate my scene

ASSET 3. Environment I began with the house, as it stood out the most to me in the reference, and I thought I would tackle the hardest asset first. I began with a polygon Cube and used the soft selection tool to scale the bottom corners in to give the body of the house a curvy shape. I then developed further by working on each feature separately; window, roof ect, then duplicating when needed to speed the process up.
I developed the scene further, by adding the other assets one bye one, fitting the reference image. Starting with the plank walkway, to get a feel of what the journey is like to the front door, then enhanced the creepiness of it all by creating the strange curly weeds curling around the wooden edges of the house. I simply created the tree by extruding, changing the scale and furthering developing the pathway of the trees movement underneath the house.
