one day, peggy is with her friends at a bar and sees angie. angie isn’t that famous of a broadway actress, but one of peggy’s friends recognizes her and is like “omg that’s angie martinelli!” and peggy is like “who??” and also thinks to herself, she’s kinda tho. then peggy goes home and google angie. idk why that’s so funny to me but it is.
anywho, they meet again coincidentally or smth (maybe ran into each other on the street or at the bar again). angie is her usual, flirty self, sending peggy into all kinds of bi panic. i imagine peggy being some kind of FBI secret agent? idk i have no idea, but the point being dating is hard for her because her job is dangerous. so she brushes off angie sometimes, same energy as S1EP3. they exchange numbers, blah blah blah, mutual pining, and just a lot of oblivious gay stuff happens.
the confession is completely accidental. like angie overhears a conversation peggy is having with one of her friends about how she’s so in love with angie. or there’s a misunderstanding that peggy has a crush on a girl and angie somehow doesn’t know it’s her. angie is kinda upset, kinda jealous, so peggy is forced to be like “it’s you, idiot” lol
the bridge is from angie’s perspective. “i want your complications too // i want your dreary mondays”??? like how perfect is that?? the lyrics speak for themselves honestly.
also “kiss me once cause you know i had a long night // kiss me twice cause it’s gonna be alright // three time cause i waited my whole life [for the right partner]” am i right or am i right? this pre chorus with the perspective switch when it’s sung the second time is just so perfect.
and i feel like “i like shiny things, but i’d marry you in paper rings” has the same energy as “i know we can’t technically get married, but i also don’t really care. we can wear the rings so we’ll know. and that’s enough for me, if it’s enough for you?” (dani clayton my beloved) like i want to marry you and spend the rest of my life with you no matter the circumstances. which is UGH- MY HEART😭😩🥺
