I bought more than that cup of coffee to benefit from the wifi, don't worry. 🙃
Studying Pharmacodynamics, ADME, therapeutic effects ... I'm really enjoying Pharmacology!
Longtime no posts! Sorry everyone, vet school has been very busy! 👩⚕️ It’s Saturday, and as you can see, I’m getting wild—studying parasites whilst I listen to the BBC Sherlock soundtrack! Sherlock is silently judging me for picking up my phone to post instead of picking up my pen.
Pet discord
So I decided to make a general pet discord server as a place people can just talk about their pets /post pictures/ etc for a few friends
if anyone is interested were still setting up but we would love to have you! :)
*edit* Also id love to get vets/vet techs on the server to help each other learn/study/share experiences

Don't be me. Tide up your hair before going into the lab.
Life update 25.3.18
So yesterday I had my first professional practice of my second year. The professor who teaches pathology in my school held it, and she's one of my favorite professors just cause she makes me laugh but when its time to work it's just work, work, work no moving off the topic.
We were learning about medicine applications, which we all learned like five moths ago, but still it had to be done for practice. She was telling us about all the things we can't do (and will never get a chance to do them on practice) like give an I/v to a dog in the jugular vein, and we all know that I/v to dogs is given in v. cephalica antebrachii or radialis and v. saphena. And I think she said that the jugular is only used when the animal is dehydrated, idk. Maybe I'm making all this up.
But anyway my hamster is grown so much I have to buy him a new wheel.
I started writing this a long time ago and I fell asleep, and its been sitting in my drafts for so long I'm gonna just upload it
I just want to put it out there that the word "euthanization" (euthanisation for all the non-Americans)is not, in fact, an actual word.
It's euthanasia or euthanizing or euthanized.
So many people say "euthanization". That's wrong. You're considering "euthanasia" or "euthanizing" your pet.
Feel free to look it up or call your vet to confirm. It's NOT A WORD.
Please stop saying it.
It's the same thing as people saying, "They're putting her/him to sleep for the spay/neuter/dental/(insert surgery)". Um, no. We're not. We're putting them UNDER. We're not euthanizing your pet for a surgery.
Yet so many people say that.
I know that pet owners can be ignorant, but give me a break. When your neighbors or friends or family says that they "put their pet to sleep", you know damn good and well that their pet died. So referring to a surgical procedure as "putting them to sleep" is ridiculous and willfully ignorant.
Veterinary medical terminology is the exact same as human medical terminology.
Get it right.
"Since its initial outbreak announcement on Sept. 11, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has received lab confirmation of 16 more victims across five new states. That brings the outbreak totals to 55 people in a dozen states, with a fourth of them requiring hospitalization. No deaths have been reported."
“Anyone who has had contact with Petland puppies in the chain’s stores, homes or elsewhere is urged to seek medical attention if they have developed symptoms of Campylobacter infection. Symptoms can include diarrhea that is often bloody, fever, stomach cramps, nausea and vomiting.”
Hey everyone. I thought I would share this article to spread some more awareness about these updates. I’m not a fan of Puppies and Kittens being sold in pet stores for these reasons, among plenty of others, usually.
But if you know someone or have purchased a puppy/kitten from Petland or another chain pet store, please keep your eyes peeled for these symptoms and keep a constant line of communication with a Veterinarian that you trust.
