Guys I was at petland to get stocking stuffers for my pets and I got distracted by the ferrets🥺 they were so CUTE there was this really playful one that kept trying to climb me and get in my hood

Oh and they're also very nuzzly ;)

April 2021 UPDATE: Marine Depot has updated their “Better Betta Care” website article to recommend a minimum of 5 gallons!!!

Exciting news! @liveaquaria has updated the Betta fish tank size guidance on their website! They raised the suggested minimum for males from 0.25 to 5 gal, and for females from 1 to 5 gal.

I notified them about the petition for @petco to raise their recommended min Betta tank size from 0.25 to 3 gal. LiveAquaria was receptive and responsive -- in fact, their updated guidance raises the bar among industry leaders! While all of these retailers can continue to sell smaller tanks, some are giving their customers information that helps them make better choices. It is great to see a leader like LiveAquaria recognize the demand for proper Betta care information. This is a small step in the right direction! Will other retailers keep up? 😃

Puppy Laundering Scheme

So far Petland and Puppyland are 2 stores that sell puppies from Puppy Mills. I'm sure there are more. Do your research. Stop the Puppy Laundering. They have been banned from doing so in California and a few other states. But Puppyland has showed up where I live not too long ago. And they get their puppies from a Puppy Mill in Iowa.

"Since its initial outbreak announcement on Sept. 11, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has received lab confirmation of 16 more victims across five new states. That brings the outbreak totals to 55 people in a dozen states, with a fourth of them requiring hospitalization. No deaths have been reported."

“Anyone who has had contact with Petland puppies in the chain’s stores, homes or elsewhere is urged to seek medical attention if they have developed symptoms of Campylobacter infection. Symptoms can include diarrhea that is often bloody, fever, stomach cramps, nausea and vomiting.”

Hey everyone. I thought I would share this article to spread some more awareness about these updates. I’m not a fan of Puppies and Kittens being sold in pet stores for these reasons, among plenty of others, usually.

But if you know someone or have purchased a puppy/kitten from Petland or another chain pet store, please keep your eyes peeled for these symptoms and keep a constant line of communication with a Veterinarian that you trust.
