Ace of Spades - Cayde-6 VS Vexas

A Drabble based more upon tension then actually fighting…

Shayde had fought to his limit. Vexas was far stronger than anyone had anticipated. While the other students of RH were occupied, preventing the Ex-Queen’s forces from seizing Cluster Prime, Shayde made his way to the palace to save his Queen, only to find Vexas waiting. She beat him within an inch of his life, and gloated, As her daughter was forced to watch from behind a force field, silently screaming for her mother to stop.

“This "light” you ramble on about will do you no good here.“ Vexas hissed, her heel upon the Exo’s head. "Now, do you know what the penalty is for attempting to assassinate the queen?”

She grinned, cackling as she pushed down on Shayde’s head. This may have been the end, of the Cluster’s future and Shayde’s, an age of darkness was at hand.

Until the music played, and a gunshot rang out across the throne room.

“Hey, Hey, Mama, Said the way you move, gonna make you sweat, gonna make you groove…”

The song halted. The shot missed, but that was the point. The gun was Ace of Spades, and it’s wielder, Cayde-6, Guardian Vanguard. Vexas stared at where the bullet landed, then turned to the shooter.

“He’s not the assassin here…” Cayde Smirked.

“You…” Vexas seethed.

“Bingo.” Cayde pointed his thumbs at himself.

The two began to circle one another, in the ways of old western showdowns, their eyes steely, and sharp. Shayde attempted to crawl away, but his mentor motioned for him to stay put.

“Where we come from, it’s tradition for the parents to meet after awhile…” Cayde fiddled with his gun as he continued to strut. “So I’m Cayde. Cayde-6. And you’re….obviously crazy.”

Vexas couldn’t help but chuckle manically. Such bravado.

“If insults are the best you have, both you and the boy have signed your own death warrants.”

Cayde finally stopped, blinking twice at his hand cannon. He was indeed responsible for Shayde’s life. Or at least he used to be. Cayde thought Shayde wouldn’t last long outside the city walls, Yet the guardian had made a life outside the entire dimension. Shayde succeeded in survival, and it was without Cayde’s help. Everyone needs help sometimes.

The Vanguard stepped carefully over Shayde and stood a foot from The Ex-Queen.

“Listen. His life has nothing to do with mine. Your fight’s with me now, and so help me if you touch that kid…” His gun began to shine intensely. “You’re gonna wish you stayed whatever dark hole you crawled out of.”

I have the feeling that if Jenny was evil from the beginning, she'd be less like Vexas, and more like ARIA or Skynet.
