When Sunny uses the Verdant Flammable Device for cooking & signalling, and the Baudelaires & Quigley see it, Quigley mentions that it could be a trap, as both sides of the schism use the same codes.

The reader has already been made aware that MWABBNH & WWHBNB don’t know what the ‘cigarette’ actually is. This makes it evident that some new methods have been established for communication with ‘noble’ volunteers, so why were they still using old ones?

Surely it would be best for them to only use old codes for information they wanted to leak, so the other side thought they were still using them, whilst using updated methods to pass the important messages.

I'd just like to point at that, while this is a fun and clever way to announce a trailer on monday, they fucked up their own code.

The jam contains the initials of the addressee (and look how it already rhymes with three and you don't need to add a "look and see",,,,,). Spiced base condiments are meant to direct volunteers to any relevant coded poems for further information

Like I get that this is just a bit simplified to help get a simpler message across but like,,,, what are they gonna do in tss with the fridge dialogue there??? You can't have two versions of the code. I highkey don't want them to change it bc like,, js as the sender makes honestly less sense bc Jaques (as the baudelaires assume) could've put the message there at any point before his death. Him being an intended recipient gives the baudelaires more hope that he might be alive, that someone else was hoping Jaques would be there. It also helps the idea that this is in fact a recent code, since Jaques would've had to put it there some time before his death. It isn't recent. But, if it's to jaques, it has the posibility that jaques is alive, or at least that news of his death hadn't spread quite yet, and this is much more likely to be a recent code.

But hey. Can't sneak in another obvious vfd in there unless the sender is mentioned.
