RRRRrrRr i need to rant about the shipping community of a 20 year old PBS Kids show,,,

honestly, in regards to Tobecky, it's a very odd ship to me.

I've seen that it's one of, if not the most popular ship in the Wordgirl community, but I'm not sure how I feel about it. On one hand, it can be cute. On the other hand, some of Tobey's behaviors are REALLY creepy. I get that he's like 10, but i really really hope that Tobey grows out of that, otherwise the ship just can't work for me. I wish they had like an episode teaching him that kind of behavior's weird.

I tend to lean more toward the ship with Becky and Scoops or Violet. I feel like Violet definitely had a crush on Wordgirl at one point. And, of course, the crush Becky has on Scoops. I've also seen potential of Violet and Scoops being a thing, and I wouldn't mind that either.

Side thing: Love you Violet. They can never make me hate you Violet. She was kind of irritating in the finale, as she refused to look into both sides of the story regarding Wordgirl's identity, and didn't bother to think about why Becky felt like she had to keep it secret. However, I feel like that would've been explored more if the show didn't get cancelled, and that's the only infuriating moment i've had with her. It didn't really warp my opinion on her as a whole.

spent the past several weeks sketching teenage/college-aged wordgirl characters because having fun is part of life.

(my main design philosophy is that i headcanon the show to be set in the late 80s or early 90s so i sometimes lean into those trends when drawing them as teens -- you can't see it under his hat but scoops has dicaprio-esque "curtain" bangs lmao)

I love this show so much, and I’ve enjoyed all the time I’ve spent with it, whether I’m drawing fanart, writing fanfics, or watching and rewatching all of the episodes.

It truly is a major part of my life. I hope I can continue to enjoy it for years to come!

Becky had started to crush on Violet a little after the brief schism in their friendship (March 2020). Her crush on Scoops faded over time, then she fell 10 times harder for Violet.

Violet on the other hand, had been crushing on Becky since the start of fifth grade (August 2018). But she was too aloof to actually process it as a crush and not “super best friend” feelings. Which to be fair, she was like 11. That’s also why she was so heartbroken when she found out Becky was lying to her.

They did officially start dating toward the end of 8th grade. (April 2022)
