Onigumo is a minor antagonist in One Piece and a major antagonist among the Marines. A Marine Vice Admiral, he is among the top elite of the armed forces and is notably one of the stronger Vice Admirals. He is an adamant follower of Absolute Justice, which means the eradication of evil by any means necessary.

Onigumo is normally a stone-faced and very cold man. He is almost always seen with a displeased scowl on his face, and is both merciless to his enemies and his own allies alike. A strong practitioner of the philosophy of Absolute Justice, Onigumo will go to any and all extremes to destroy "evil". This means he is wholly willing and completely uncaring if his actions cause untold suffering of innocents in collateral, and has murdered his own men without a second's hesitation if he saw them questioning the morality of their actions for even the briefest of moments. Of all the Marines in the world, he is the one who comes closest to Fleet Admiral Sakazuki's wrathful extremism.

Powers and Abilities

Being a Vice Admiral, Onigumo is the third highest rank in the entire Marines organization. This gives him complete authority over all lower ranking members and he is counted among Marine HQ's elite. His rank also means he has both great combat power and intellect and is a very capable leader. While Vice Admirals in One Piece come in varying degrees of strength, Onigumo is one of the strongest, and has directly fought the highest ranked non-Captain member of a Emperor crew, Marco, and even managed to momentarily subdue him. He is a veteran warrior and exceptionally deadly, able to unleash devastating onslaughts with not two, but eight swords at once using his Zoan Devil Fruit which enables him to turn into a full spider and spider hybrid at will. He is also capable of both Armament Haki and Observation Haki.

Trivia

Onigumo is the first character in the series to have shown the powers of a spider Zoan, followed by Black Maria and Saint Saturn.

Unlike the other two, with Black Maria being an Ancient Zoan and Saturn's being a Mythical, Onigumo likely has the default standard version.
