“ hey, uh — how do you manage to fight in those? ” sure, all the noise from the fighting was loud, but it was kind of easy to pick out the sound of wheels when evan wouldn’t have expected it. a few feet away from him, there’s the kid spinning around in them, the skates easier to notice as soon as evan actually looks at them. there’s a bat, too, and while evan can’t tell if it’s being used, he assumes it is just out of good will. “ isn’t it ever.. uh, hard to move while fighting? ”

well, maybe he’d been trained in that, considering all evan had managed to pull off was running or flying with mir while in combat, but it was certainly still interesting.

FRIENDSHIPS:

gonna be a little difficult with this bastard because he’s an antagonistic little shit by nature, but if you can call him to you and manage to keep him around long enough for him to grow fond of you, he’s a good friend to have if you like causing trouble. and hey, even engimatic assaulters can have people they hold dear.

ROMANCE:

now, romance is even TRICKIER. since lil slugger appears as an 11-13 year old i’m obviously not doin any smut. but puppy love sort of things are on the table for any muses aged 10-16. if you wanna flirt with the personification of escapism... go ahead!

FRIENEMIES:

this is much easier than friendships, as again, lil slugger is an instigator. if you wanna mess with him as he messes with you, please do!

ENEMIES:

OH BIG OOF LET’S GO BABEY!!!!! you pick a fight with this bastard, you’re making a powerful enemy (once he gets more famous in this city). but until then, it’ll be fun and i’d love to have this bastard have enemies.

VICTIMS:

this is the default for what lil slugger sees everyone as. if you’re emotionally vulnerable or cornered, he’ll probably appear to you and try to beat the shit out of you so your problems are “solved”. let me know if you want to do something, especially when he gets his hallucination powers back!

“I had the weirdest dream last night.” Steven said as he sipped his drink. They were sitting on the floor of his house, but without electricity it was like indoor camping. It was a good thing he knew how to use survival skills after spending time on the jungle moon.

One thing he knew was conserve heat. That’s why he was wearing his sleeping bag. It made it hard to use his arms, but still.

“I was wearing this magic pants...and I used them to walk all the way to the gem homeworld. Then I saw the scariest Diamond ever! She wouldn’t even listen to me when I was trying to ask for her help. She put me in time out, and then I woke up. Do you ever have scary dreams like that?”

He sighed as the memory of that blinding white face flashed in his memory again. What would happen now? Would he dream that over and over again like he did sometimes?

“I don’t know if you’ve ever seen the big pit, but it’s super cool looking.” Steven said as they walked down the street towards the center of the city. He knew they had to go there to start their mission, and he was way more excited than scared. He still knew to be cautious, however.

“It’s also really deep. My floating and bubble will protect us if we fall in...so maybe we should hold hands just to be safe?”

One of the worst part of Hive City was the kids. Not because Cloud had anything against them - far, far from it. It was knowing that they were there, in a foreign land, far from any kind of home, vulnerable to predators. People like Cloud, who had been in more fights than he could even begin to count, developed an instinct for when something hostile was around. Many children didn’t have that instinct.

If there was one thing worse than children in a place like this, though, it was when the kid tripped those internal alarm bells.

There was always the possibility that he was wrong, of course; but Cloud wasn’t exactly willing to bet on that. Especially since he hadn’t bothered to bring a sword along. Much more likely, on the other hand, was that the ‘dangerous’ kid would roll right past in search of easier pickings.

Cloud simply picked a nice, open spot, just barely inside the mouth of an alleyway, and put his back up against a wall. No way to get behind him, couldn’t flank without being seen from a few dozen feet away. Hardly an opportune target.

Not quite something a normal person would do on a whim, either. But an obvious move for anyone who suspected they were being tailed.

The first time she’d seen him, she’d thought nothing of it, and moved on.

The second time, she was sure she’d seen him somewhere before.

The third, she began to suspect something was up.

The fourth, well... Sombra is no fool. She knows when she’s being followed, and the aura of ill-intent lurking in her general vicinity for the past few hours was hard to ignore. So was the scraping of metal upon pavement bouncing off the ruined buildings, ringing in her ears like some kind of harbinger of misfortune. Did this kid think he was subtle? Intimidating, even? At that moment, all he was doing was grating on her nerves. She was pretty sure that a headache would come knocking later.

She had to get rid of him.

The mess of a city did not lack for places to lure someone into. As of yet Sombra refrained from giving any indication that she knew what was going on, though she was itching to turn around and tell him to scram. Making a sharp turn around a crumbling corner, the hacker listened for the scraping to get closer. She was glad for a change in power, at least in this moment-- Stealth was quite invaluable when one wanted to lose somebody, though she did not want to lose him so soon. The timing had to be right. The chase had to be on.

Should he continue to follow her, Sombra knew she’d have to be quick. Staying ahead of people was a game she’d played many times before, and if a kid who was so obvious about his presence was following her, she knew she was going to win. Of course, this all depended on him playing by the rules. Arbitrary rules, but rules nonetheless.

Sombra edged further into the shadow, slowing down a little to allow him to catch up. She was fully confident in herself, but the truth was that nothing had ever been clear on who was the cat...
