★ ᴀᴛ ʟᴏɴɢ, ʟᴏɴɢ ʟᴀsᴛ. at long, long last, someone paranoid and scrabbling for control, someone slowly backing themselves into an emotional corner, prey for the starving predator. grant it, it had only been a day or two, but with the damned bracelet on his wrist he felt the hunger far more than before, even when he’d been first created. and, grant it again, lil slugger had to coax it out of her with his continued rounds, a hawk with his golden eyes keenly watching under his ruby red cap, but coax it he did.
and feast he would. his very first victim in this new, godforsaken city…!
he watches her duck into a corner with some sort of stealthing expertise, and realizes she might not be as easy prey as he thought. well, he still had the ability to teleport, just a little bit. he skates by her once more, lets the sound of his inline skates fade away from her ears, waits a few moments and slows down, concentrates…
and in a moment, he’s thirty feet behind her, accelerating with a horrid grin on his face, raising his bat––
IT HAPPENED almost too quickly to make sense of.
The sound of skates had faded from her ears, leaving her in dead silence. Sombra crept slowly through the shadows, put a bit on edge by the sudden disappearance. Something about this wasn’t right, wasn’t natural. It was an uncommon occurrence to back the hacker into a corner, but that seemed to be right where she was headed.
From behind was not the expected direction of attack, and yet that was where it came. Sombra was barely given time to react before she heard the clink of metal against bone and red-hot pain blooming in her skull. She could have sworn she saw stars in the brief second it took for her to connect with the pavement.
The mere act of talking only made the pain worse. Sombra was left stunned on the ground-- Just what in fresh hell had been so quick? How fast she had become a fish out of water, always accustomed to being the spider but never the fly. She had played right into a trap that she didn’t know had been lain.
Gritting her teeth, the hacker rolled to the side and swung out her leg, in hopes that whatever momentum her assailant had would be used against them (if she was not too late). Then perhaps she could get some answers.
