Papyrus was kind to the human SOULs during the experiments.
Thus, the SOULs wanted to protect him. When Asriel absorbed the last eight monsters in Angel's Promise, the human SOULs used what little independent power they had to shield Papyrus from being fully absorbed.
Why did Frisk' soul also shrink when Asriel separated them from Chara's? Correct me if i'm wrong, but doesn't Soul Fission only "cure" conditions related to amalgamation? Sorry if i sound rude, i'm just kind of confused as to why Frisk was affected by Asriel's doing if their soul was already whole when they came into the underground.
Flowey was too sloppy. He took the switch soul mode and literally tore it down the middle when Frisk and Chara still shared an HP pool. He didn't take the time to carefully and permanently break the tethers in a way that would maintain 20 HP for both of them. So as a result, both got diminished HP. It's not untreatable, but it's something they'll have to deal with for a while, at least. Undyne stockpiled enough DT over the years that she at least has a good amount to give treatments to help strengthen their SOULs.

How did frisk and chara being separated by the soul splitting cleaver work exactly, as you've mentioned something about chara being a magic projection in that state but it's still a little unclear
Immense concentrated power that Undyne created through the study of SOULs. The cleaver was able to temporarily split the amalgamates, but they were unable to survive being separated for long and clumped back together. Human SOULs, being far more resilient, are able to withstand it better, and since human SOULs are so powerful, the energy from the SOUL itself projected a "body" as a side effect of the cleaver's magic properties. However, it wasn't a lasting effect on its own, but Flowey was able to make the split permanent because he had already absorbed the six human SOULs and most of the monsters by that point. He just wasn't very elegant with it, and so he just ripped 'em apart which is why their max HP got weakened. It was less that their original SOULs were weak and more he was sloppy and impatient.
Are the monsters dead? (Like Papyrus, Sans, Mettaton, etc.)
They were absorbed by Flowey.
Can I just say I love how Frisk straightup fucking hates Flowey? Not in a mean-spirited way, but the absolute “You BITCH” energy they give off when talking about them reminds me of how I felt when he interrupted my True Pacifist Run. (For those who might be confused by this: I’m an IF Server member and am talking about events that occured in #specialhappytime. Frisk hasn’t actually talked about him somewhere you may have missed yet)
Haha, I'm glad that people overall have been receptive to that. I was a bit concerned with how much people love Frisk and Asriel/Frisk and Flowey friendship that my Frisk NOT being as understanding or receptive would bother people. That's not to say they can't learn to understand how he got this way later, but the trauma and betrayal from what happened really do rule out Frisk wanting to maintain a friendship with him at this time, and probably for a long time, if we're being realistic. In Vanilla Undertale, he still did some messed up stuff, like repeatedly killing them as Photoshop Flowey, killing Asgore in their face, and similarly "betraying" them, but there it was a lighter "if you beat me, I'll bring everyone back" on top of him not dragging out the betrayal for too long and making it so personally charged. Here, though? He delightfully laughed at Frisk's tears, attacked them verbally and physically, and even dug up old guilt and trauma, on top of making it so Papyrus had to surrender before he got on with it. They're grateful that Chara has this second chance at life. It's nice to be able to hug them and hold their hand, especially under these circumstances... but that's still one silver lining after the most traumatic experience of their life.
Is Inverted Asriel bigger than his Undertale form? Because in the few slides we've seen him, he looks pretty massive.
He's not literally giant. It's just that some of the slides are stylized/symbolic. xD
