Opinion Poll: Which member of the M9 is most likely to sleep with Vidala the Housekeeper?
TUM Ch' tum TUM Ch' tum
For day 20, we're travelling to India. This is a Yali, which can be found sculpted into pillars in many Hindu temples. It's also known as a Vyala or Vidala in sanskrit. It's mostly depicted as a hybrid of a lion, an elephant and a horse, ofyen with a rider. #aprildrawing #drawing #pencil #sketch #mythologicalcreatures #yali #vyala #vidala #indianmythology
I missed going to a music concert so much. I forgot how thrilling it is to hear musicians playing on stage, especially with acoustic instruments. It's like walking in a pouring summer rain, it just pierces your whole body.
The band Vidala carries so much energy and feelings in its interpretation of Nueva Cancion's songs. I mean, I knew nothing about this South American movment of the 60s-70s, about Violeta Parra, María Elena Walsh, Chabuca Granda, Mercedes Sosa, Víctor Jara, Atahualpa Yupanqui, Léon Gieco... and I don't speak a word of spanish. But those songs about labour, oppression and fight for justice gets to your heart no matter what your language is thanks to Vidala's brilliant version.
María Landó is a Peruvian song written by César Calvo for Chabuca Granda, inspired by the women who leave home early everyday for work.
"María has no time (María Landó) To lift up her eyes María to lift up her eyes (María Landó) Exhausted by lack of sleep María exhausted by lack of sleep (María Landó) And by suffering María by suffering (María Landó) Only works María only works, only works, only works María only works And her work belongs to others"
"Manifiesto" is a song recorded by the socialist artist Victor Jara in 1973, just before he was killed by the dictatorship of Pinochet in Chili.
