Shay Carl Opens Up About YouTube Journey! (VIDCON 2015)
Channel: HollyWireTV
I think that the important video is about consent and things like that, he spoke about the thing with glozel and about touching a butt (he said this was a spoiler) I don't know but it's an important issue and not a typical Dan video
he giggled about the accidental butt touching thing tho so I doubt it’s a serious issue
i feel the butt-touching thing is more about the potential collab him and Tyler (and possible Phil) are doing rather than a whole video about consent.
Plus Dan mentioned the ‘important video’ before all the glozell stuff happened at vidcon :/??? idk
i just really hate how people are not doing anything about glozell and her rather shitty behavior at vidcon, like real talk dan needs to know how creative and intelligent and kind and funny he is. like yea, hes attractive, but thats only one part of dan he is so much /more/ then looks and he deserves to be told that, as opposed to people shouting all those things about how hot he is and what not. ((now i really need a gifset of all the times dan was a kind and beautiful soul srry for rambling))
i think people discussing all this is definitely a step forward and certainly doing something - making people aware what the issue was. I’m sure Dan is aware (and grateful about) that’s how we see him. if he’s not been too busy with the continuation of the filming for the gaming documentary, he’s probably already seen the popular posts discussing this and is grateful for those too. But hey, i can’t speak for him so we’ll just have to wait and see. It’s not really like Dan to want to cause ‘drama’ or aggressively/emotionally call someone out…I’m sure he would address it privately to Glozell or maybe even the people who organised that messy panel to prevent it from happening again, to him or to anyone else. But yeah, whatever, I agree with you~ Dan is far more than just a pretty face and it’s kind of annoying/degrading that people seem to think his audience (us) is made up of only girls who only like him because of that.
JESUS FUCK DAN HOWELL IS MORE THEN A PRETTY FACE HE IS REALLY KIND AND FUNNY CREATIVE HOLY SHIT I JUST WANT TO LIKE SIT DOWN WITH HIM AND TELL HIM HOW WONDERFUL OF A PERSON HE IS AND HOW MUCH HE INSPIRES PEOPLE AND HOW MUCH HE MEANS TO ME AS A PERSON AND NOT AS A SEX SYMBOL LIKE DAN HOWELL IS A BEACON OF LIGHT WHO NEEDS TO BE PROTECTED FROM PEOPLE OVER SEXUALIZING HIM !!!
↑↑↑ u know whatssssup
what's your opinion on the whole Glozell twerking on Dan thing? a lot of people are angry about it for soooo many reasons. I don't really know what to think of it except for that Dan seemed sorta uncomfortable about it
i’ll admit, at the time, i was 90% laughing and 10% concerned for Dan. I fell for the crowd-vibe of laughing at what was happening rather than going with my gut, ya know?
I didn’t think about how i was reacting, let alone what was happening could potentially be harmful (Dan being in an uncomfortable position doing things that clearly didn’t really involve his consent - i.e. being twerked on, being picked up, having his first video shown in full to a room of thousands of people, being constantly treated like a ‘pretty face’ that girls scream at etc. that whole panel, looking back at it, was a mess. to put it bluntly.) and I am genuinely sorry, to Dan esp, for not calling that out at the time.
The VidCon hype distracted me from my values and thus, caused me to follow the double standard (srsly, if anything that happened to Dan happened to a woman, I probably would have not been laughing and that’s really fucked up that I didn’t even acknowledge that double standard at the time.)Right now though, obviously, I do realise the problematic issues that arose and I feel bad for not going more towards being concerned for Dan’s level of feeling comfortable when it was all happening…I feel genuinely sorry for Dan after how he addressed what happened in his liveshow too… :( I agree with this, this, this and this (haven’t reblogged them all bc i think the first one puts across the issue v well)
hope that answered your question!
I think my favorite memory from vidcon is meeting mamrie and getting to actually talk to her about beanz and nofilter. Like it may have only lasted 45 secs but god damn I have A LOT OF FEELINGS ABOUT IT.
He noticed me taking pictures of him so he posed for me :’)
