Free hour-long webinar on plotting from Eva Deverell, available on her website or through youtube. (And you get a neat little booklet at the end!)
It's part of a longer (and paid) course that she offers, but she not only provides information about the method but also examples (which I very much appreciate!). The video on her website works through fantasy plotting, while the youtube one is a non-genre one.
Stages she goes through include:
Resolution
Stasis
Shift
Trigger
Quest
Power
Bolt
Defeat
(These are plotting order, not story order. Once you fold up the page, the order becomes: Stasis, Trigger, Quest, Bolt, Shift, Defeat, Power, and Resolution).
Briefly (so I have them for my own notes), each stage is:
Resolution - like the conclusion of an essay; sums up and packages everything; opposite of Stasis; light
Stasis - beginning; what the world/characters are like before everything happens; introduction to characters, problems, etc.; light
Shift - point at which the character sees how to get to the resolution; usually internal change; shadow
Trigger - initial action that sets the story in motion; follows Stasis; light
Quest - meat of the story; training by mentor; starting to move into a new world, people, things, etc.; most of the scenes here; light
Power - inverse of quest; character realizes what they need to do to get resolution; luck turns; shadow
Bolt - quest comes to a halt; diverted from path; shadow
Defeat - something must be lost or sacrificed; this needs to happen so that the character can become the person they need to be; defeat is only temporary; shadow
(Light - everyday world; Shadow - underworld/transformation)
