Tomorrow and Tomorrow and Tomorrow, by Gabrielle Zevin I really read this one ages ago, over #Ithacon weekend, while I spent the rest of my time demoing our games, playtesting a new game, and talking about game design. Such a strange feeling. #Tomorrowx3 is all about game design and creativity, what parts of ourselves come out in our games, and which parts of our relationships come out in games and game dev. The main characters are the right age for Oregon Trail memories, and there’s a running joke about the classic You Have Died of Dysentery. But this is more about friends riffing on a shared experience, this isn’t a novel of gamer references (I'm looking at you, Ready Player One). The games, real and imagined, exist to tell the story of creativity, friendship and love. Phoenix es un videojuego arcade de estilo matamarcianos diseñado por la empresa Amstar Electronics (la cual se encontraba en Phoenix, Arizona, Estados Unidos) y licenciado por Centuri para su distribución en Estados Unidos y a Taito Corporation para su distribución en Japón. Como tantos otros arcades de la época, en Phoenix el jugador maneja una nave anclada a la parte inferior de la pantalla pudiendo moverla solamente en sentido horizontal. En esta ocasión, además del disparo láser, el jugador cuenta con un botón que activa una barrera protectora durante unos segundos pudiendo repeler así los ataques de lar hordas enemigas. Durante el tiempo que está activa la barrera protectora (aproximadamente un segundo) el jugador permanece inmóvil y no podrá volver a utilizar este escudo hasta pasados cinco segundos. Los enemigos en Phoenix están representados por dos tipos de pájaros que nos atacarán en formación durante las pantallas 1 hasta la 4.
