I think bara connotates an embrace of realistic expectations of masculine beauty and the diversion from the inauthentic portrayals of gay romance in yaoi toward the more realistic perspective of bara. It's about healthy bodies and old age being beautiful in men
That’s what I meant by common parlance diluting its original meaning. Yet I personally feel that it still is too explicit a term for me to be comfortable being linked with, and would prefer that it wasn’t used to describe my work. Perhaps I should have phrased it as such instead of how I initially had, as ‘homoerotic’.
My apologies for the confusion. I hope I’ve clarified my feelings on the matter.
I can only ask that folks not use that term to describe my work, despite it being fitting in a way. The bara genre typically was created by, and catered to homosexual males, after all.
I can’t really force anyone to stop it. So I’m only saying this once. I’m fine with platonic attraction. Though once it steps over that line I’m immediately uncomfortable.
