Summary: A princess and a wolf meet under difficult circumstances. Can they give each other shelter in a cold world?

A/N: prompt/idea by @gypsyjucar: Ulf Johnsen (Dean Winchester) is the leader of his land with the help of his brother. On a trip to Dean gets captured by the king's guards, the princess, was just walking along the castle when she hears her father and guards talking about a barbarian in the cells and this is where their journey begins...

Day 10

Days spent on a cramped ship, surrounded by people who mostly ignore you or speak in a foreign language are taking a toll on you.

While the waves beat roughly at the shores you look at the land Dean points toward to. He explained that you are still within your father's reach but his men need a rest, just like all of you.

Before you can return to Dean’s homeland, the land you will call your home from now on, his men needs to gather more supplies.

“Soon we’ll arrive at one of our hidden camps. It’s safe and now one dares to come close to it. Some of our men are waiting for us, just like the maiden for the ritual.” Your eyes meet Dean’s and you can see the smirk appear on his lips.

“You planned to take me with you, didn’t you?” Humming Dean places his hands on your hips. “How could you know I would come with you?”

“I would’ve kidnapped you, my love. You are destined to become my queen, to be my àst (love), princess.” His lips capture yours in a soft kiss and you can hear the men behind Dean whistle when you play with Dean’s braids.

Dean barks something at his men, grinning as one of them snickers at his words. You don’t know what Dean said as most of the words are foreign to you, but you understood princess, mine and feisty…

“What did you say?” Dean’s smile grows as he leans closer to brush his lips over yours. “Ulfr (Dean)?”

“They wanted to know if you are as obedient as you seem, and I told them that you are fiercely and feisty. I told them that only a wild wolf as me can tame you, princess. No man will dare to touch you, Y/N.”

You can see the hunger in Dean’s eyes and a little moan leaves your lips as you press your legs together.

“You want to tame me, wild wolf?” Smirking you tangle your fingers in his hair, tugging harshly at his dirty blonde strands. “Maybe I’ll tame you my wild Viking.”

“You know…” His lips are back on yours, this time he slips his tongue in, pressing it to the roof of your mouth. “We call ourselves Ostmen, not Vikings…“

“Oh, my mother always said víkingr is the name of a seaman or warrior taking part in an expedition.” Humming Dean gets a piece of paper out to write víkingr and Viking onto a piece of paper.

“Look. Víkingr is the person, but to go viking means to go on a raid or expedition, my love. But it’s not a problem if you call me your Viking. I like it, to be honest.” Dean’s features soften as you look at the piece of paper.

“Can you teach me your mother tongue? I want to learn to speak it fluently.” While you look at the words again Dean barks something at his men, pointing toward a ship in the distance.

“Something wrong?” Looking at the ship heading into your direction you drop the piece of paper. You know that flag. “That’s my uncle's ship. How can he…”

“I think your father told your uncle that Dean kidnapped you.” Castiel worriedly looks at the closer coming ship. “We need to hide. I don’t think they will attack us right here. Not with only one ship against five of yours, Dean.”

“It would be a one-sided fight but you are right. That ship will follow us. It’s far away and will need a few hours to reach us so…” Looking at you Dean takes your hand in his. “We have to do the ritual as soon as we arrive at the camp.”

“Ritual…” Your cheeks heat up and you hide your face in Dean’s chest. “I am going to marry you, my king…”

Hours before the wedding…

The ship kept on following you, but it was way slower than the Viking’s ships. While you watched the ship disappear in the distance Dean rarely left your side.

He gave orders in Norse, only leaving your side for a moment to explain something to Sam and Ivar (Bobby). Castiel and Garth always lingered by your side.

You could see it in their eyes, they didn’t trust Dean’s men, or Sam to protect you at all cost.

When you finally saw the camp coming closer you could feel your heart race. Dean told you more about the ritual but all you could hear was that you will unite soon, and you felt fear creep into your thoughts.

What if you disappoint Dean? What if he doesn’t like your body or the way you take his manhood? What if you cannot be a good queen to him?

“We are almost there, my love. If we reach the camp, you will have to go with Ruby and the other maidens. They will keep you safe and help you strip your old life off. I’ll be waiting for you, Y/N.” One last time Dean kissed you as the ships landed…

Just like Dean said you and your groom got separated. Ruby could see you are nervous, so she chided the bubbly maidens and they fell silent.

Your body started to shake as Ruby explained they will help you stripping your clothes off. Never before were you naked in front of so many foreign women.

“I’ll be by your side the whole time, Y/N. Don’t you worry. At the end of the rituals, your love is waiting for you, your king.”

With skilled fingers Ruby and the other maiden stripped you bare, humming in approvals as they looked you all over.

One of the elder women said something you did not understand but according to Ruby’s reaction, a bright smile, it must’ve been nice.

“She said our king is a lucky man to have you as his bride. She never complimented a bride before, Y/N.” Ruby whispered.

“Takk (thank you).“ Your words made the maiden gasp. You could see their faces lit up as their future queen tried to talk to them in their mother tongue.

“They are pleased that you try to speak our mother tongue. Soon you will be able to talk like us.” Ruby staid by your side, taking your golden band out of your hair to carefully place it far away from your old clothes.

“We will keep the kransen for your future daughter, Y/N.”

“Why are there two bathtubs?” Confused you looked at the tubs until you remembered Dean’s words. “Wash my old life away…I see…”

“You need to get into the hot one first. I’ll stay here, just like the married women, the others will leave now. Normally your mother or sisters should be here, or Ulfr’s (Dean) mother.” Ruby held out her hand to help you into the hot water.

You shivered even though you sat in hot water. Your mind was somewhere else, at your wedding night, and Ruby gave you a knowing smirk.

The women used birch twigs to increase perspiration. “We are washing your maiden status away. Just go with it, Y/N.” Nodding you bore the hot water until the elder woman pointed toward the other tub.

Ruby helped you out of the tub with hot water to help you enter the one with cold water too. Plunged into the cold water you squeaked as your body shivered the moment you sat down.

“Almost done, princess. You did well, even better than other brides.” Ruby whispered and you nodded silently.

While you stepped out of the bathtub, greeted by the other women with hugs and words you did not understand Dean washed away his bachelorhood in another place.

Bobby and Sam, along with other married men stayed by his side, giving him advice on marriage and his duties as your husband.

Sam finally admitted he married Ruby months ago, in a secret ceremony. Dean wanted to yell, wanted to punish his brother but not during your wedding ritual.

“I will keep this a secret. When we are back at our homeland, there will be a ritual, a wedding ceremony to make sure no one believes my brother broke the rules…”

One hour before the wedding ceremony…

“We will help you with your dress now. Dean let one of our most talented maidens made it for you.” Smiling you look at the dark green flowing dress. It has plenty of layers and ruffles, just as you imagined a Viking’s brides gown.

The maidens help you into your under-dress, straighten it. There is giggling and childish behavior as Ruby and the elder women push the dress over your head.

“Only the fur is left.” Ruby can see your hands are trembling. “Breathe, princess. Let us help you through the ritual. Dean is a good king; a good man and he’ll be a good husband.”

“I…I know.” Huffing you let the elder woman wrap the fur cloak around your shoulders. “But can I be a good wife?”

“You will, Dean chose you…fate chose you…” Holding out her hand Ruby leads you to a chair. “The younger women will braid your hair now. You have wonderful hair, like one of us.”

While the maidens braid your hair, create a half up half down fishtail braid you let Ruby hold your hand, whispering encouraging words.

“Beautiful.” You can see your hair, but you believe Ruby as she caps your hair with a floral crown. “We are finished, my princess. Let us continue. Take a deep breath and remember you do all this for your king.”

“Thank you, Ruby. I wouldn’t have known what to do without you…”

“My love…” Dean can’t take his eyes off you as he can finally see you again. His eyes roam your body and you can see the smile tug at the corner of his lips. “You are breathtakingly beautiful.”

Dean’s clothes match your colors. Green and golden, just like your dress. While you look at him, he tightens the grip at a sword. It looks old and you assume it’s the one he was talking about days ago.

One thick braid tames his wild hair at the back of his head, but some locks fall over his shoulders, just as you like it. He smiles wildly gives orders in Norse as you look at his expertly decorated hair.

One of the men carries a goat toward Dean and you want to close your eyes as he hands your king a knife. You know it’s a needed ritual, still, you pity the poor goat.

“For Thor!” Dean exclaims before he slices the goat's throat. A tiny whimper leaves your lips seeing the blood drop down onto the ground. “He’ll make sure you are fertile, my love.”

Humming you glance at the poor goat, not showing you pity it, you smile wildly, nodding as Dean places his hand onto your belly, saying something in Norse which makes the men growl in response.

Watching the Gothi (priest) taking the blood from the wound you want to shudder, but you take a deep breath as he dribbles the blood over Thor’s statue.

The priest drips blood over his forehead and you can’t hold back a whine. Dean grasps your hand, squeezes it tightly as the Gothi finally dips twigs into the blood to fling it on you and Dean to bless you.

While the sacrifice of the goat, the blood and the Gothi flinging blood on you made you feel uneasy you smile as Dean presents his ancestral sword to you.

“Don’t worry…” Castiel hands you a sword, smiling as he nods at Dean. “I took your grandfather’s sword with me. It was your Viking grandfather’s sword, my princess. All is good.”

With shaking fingers, you present the sword to Dean, smiling as he nods in approval. He knows the symbols on the sword, knows your mother’s family were strong and honorable people.

Moments later you feel Dean put a ring on your finger, you do the same but the words of the Gothi, the cheers and everything else are just a blur as Dean presses his lips to yours, slipping his tongue in.

The feast following your wedding ceremony is tiring. A tall hammer, Thor’s hammer to be precise, was placed in your lap, to bless your womb.

While everyone around eats and drinks you barely nipped at the strong mead Dean offered to you. Your nerves getting the best of you as all you can think about is the rest of the ritual.

“Uh—Ulfr?” Whispering your husband's name you bite your lower lips as he faces you. His lips press against yours and you fist his cloak as he can barely hold back the need to take you right there and then.

“My love…” His voice is lower now and you giggle lightly as his hand moves to your thigh to stroke it gently. “Are you not well?”

“I feel…I mean…” Whining you lean closer to Dean, as he grips the handle of the hammer. “Those people bedding us…will they watch?”

Dean laughs loudly, almost choking on his spit. “No, my queen. They will lead us to bed, witness that it’s me and you but…” His hand squeezes your thigh roughly as he lazily licks his lips. “They will not watch us when I make you my queen…”

Dean’s arm is wrapped tightly around your waist as he leads you toward your destiny.

Bobby, Sam, Ruby, the elder woman from the ritual, the Gothi and a man named Ketch hold torches in their hands to lead the way through the camp.

“I am nervous…” Whispering the words you feel Dean’s holds on you tighten. “Don’t be, my love.”

While Ruby and the elder women help you undress and lay on the bed you nervously look at Ruby.

“Just a few more moments and we are all gone. Don’t fear him. Dean is a good man. He’s a fierce warrior but I never heard he hurt a woman.”

Humming you smile as the elder woman places your bridal crown back onto the crown of your hair. She whispers something in Norse and you nod, squeezing her hand as you watch Sam and Bobby help Dean out of his clothing.

Your cheeks heat up as you glance at his manhood. You want to giggle but you don’t want to embarrass your husband or yourself in front of his fellow landsman.

Watching Dean walk toward the bed, a smile on his lips you hold your breath. He crawls onto the blanket to lie next to you, nodding as the men step closer.

All witnesses look at you and Dean before they nod at each other. The Gothi says something in Norse, just like Bobby and the others but all you can recognize is Dean’s hand moving up and down your thigh.

For a moment you just lie there, not knowing what to do.

Dean seems to be less nervous; he rolls to his side to slide his fingers through your hair.
