Vik hadn’t expected much when he got home. Just the mumblings of the tv when he entered or music playing through the sound system. A tired greeting from his wife as she struggled to get off the couch.
He hadn’t expected to hear nothing. There was no quiet sound of the tv playing something. No music playing. And there wasn’t a greeting. The quiet had him on high alert, keys just barely making into the bowl as he stepped fully into the house.
“Y/N.” He calls. Anxiety heightening when he doesn’t hear anything in return. He calls her name again and breathes a sigh of relief when he hears her respond. “Are you okay?” He follows the sound of her voice.
“I’m alright.” She calls back.
He doesn’t say anything, not until he’s standing in the doorway and giving her an unimpressed look. “You know, you were put on bed rest.”
She frowns, pausing from the pile of clothes she was putting away. “It’s clothes, baby clothes.” She stresses, her left hand going to rest on her swollen stomach.
Vik softens at the sight. He hadn’t really thought that she could get more beautiful, but the further she got along, the bigger she got, and the more her left hand rested on her bump, he was proven wrong. “Still. And don’t think I haven’t noticed that you moved the books around.”
She rolls her eyes, but steps away from the chest of drawers. “I promise that I didn’t overdo it. Now, come say hi to the baby. They’re kicking up a storm from hearing your voice.”
His lips stretch into a smile and he’s instantly by her side and resting a hand on her bump. “You been good for your mum?”
“If you call making me pee every fifteen minutes good, they’ve been the best.”
He chuckles, bending to press a kiss to the bump. “Let’s lay off the kicking, yeah? Mum barely slept last night despite what she wants me to believe.” He tells the baby but makes eye contact with her as he straightens.
She turns her head slightly, “don’t know what you're talking about.”
He hums, “sure you don’t.” He then presses their lips together, feeling all of his anxiety from coming home to a quiet house leaving him at the contact. “Let’s get you back to the couch.”
She groans but lets him pull her out of the nursery and back to the living room.

I’d been friends with Ethan for years, I saw him grow both as a YouTube personality and a person, looking back on that journey was just astonishing. When he invited me to hang out with him and his new friends that he makes videos with, that was when worlds collided, and I made new friends and along the way, I found my person. Let’s go back to the beginning.
I didn’t meet the guys until 2015 and that was when we went to Thorpe Park and it was when I was off university for a week since it was a half term so we had planned to hang out and that was when I also met his friends “the sidemen” I had seen them because I support Ethan and what he does so I watch his videos. Plus, when I feel homesick and he is busy I can watch one of his things, because he’s my best friend and has been for years.
Waiting for the guys felt like an eternity because I am pretty sure they set off late so I am currently waiting in the actual park for them and I am just stood off to the side of the path waiting for them and I check my phone and go through my Instagram feed only to be picked up from behind which causes me to scream slightly before I am put down. I turn around and see the grinning face of Ethan Payne. “Hello asshole,” I say with a grin on my face and hug him which he returns instantly.
“Have you gotten smaller Y/N?” Ethan questions and I shove him slightly.
“Fuck off, I think you’re simply standing on your ego and that’s why it seems like that,” I retort which gets a laugh out of the guys. “Oh, sorry. Hi, I’m Y/N and I’ve been best mates with Ethan for a long time and it's great to finally meet you guys!” I introduce myself to the guys with fake confidence. What was it that was said in the magazines? Fake it till you make it right?
That day was probably one of the best of my life because of the guys and I kept in contact and that was also how I met Freya, Josh’s girlfriend and we hit it off as well. They all became my family essentially and it was the day of my graduation that my immediate family were there but afterwards I celebrated with everyone.
The party was in full swing and I was in a simple cocktail dress that I wore underneath my cap and gown. Due to the atmosphere, I found myself becoming very warm so I go to get some air outside so I can cool down before rejoining the party. Just as I am about to step outside, I hear two voices talking, just as I am about to go back inside because privacy I hear my name mentioned and I instantly freeze.
“Look, Ethan, she is amazing and so what if I have fallen for her? She’s out of my league, there’s no point in even going there because it wouldn’t happen.” A voice explains. Who is that? Vik?
“That’s bullshit and you know it, Vik like she is one of my best friends and I know her. She likes you, bro,” Ethan rebukes him and just as Vik is going to reply, I decided to reveal myself.
“He’s not wrong you know Vik. I’ve liked you for a while but always thought you weren’t interested.” I confess with a meek smile. Ethan lets out one of his infectious laughs and then leaves us.
“So then.” Vik starts, but I cut him off by inching closer and closer and he gets the message and meets me halfway. Smiling into the kiss, I wrap my arms around his shoulders and he puts his hands on my waist.
“God, I think I love you,” Vik utters and I just giggle.
“Well, I think there is a party waiting for us and I think this story will be told another day,” I say and drag him inside with me on his arm I felt like I was flying.
--
“And flying I was, I wouldn’t take any moments back because that wouldn’t mean I would be here with you right now. So, Vik. I love you.” I say with a grin to rival that of a Chelsea smile.
“You may now kiss the bride,” the officiator says, and I’m pulled in by my husband.
Request - hi!! Simon Minter imagine where vikk broke his collar bone at home instead of the snow and y/n is the paramedic that responds, and Simon asks her out? Thank you!!
As you hopped out of the ambulance from the passenger side, you heard a pained yell from inside the property that you were in front of. Both you and your partner looked round to try and identify where the noise was coming from. Grabbing your bag, you headed towards the front door. It opened immediately revealing a tall blond guy.
“Thank God you’re here, we don’t know what’s happened. We were just filming a video when Vikk fell over and hit his shoulder pretty hard.” The one who opened the door said, you nodded in acknowledgement. As your partner prepared the ambulance, you followed the blond through the house and eventually found the source of the yell. On the floor in front of you was a young man, probably early twenties, clutching his shoulder in pain. You knelt on the floor and placed your bag down.
“Hi there, my names (Y/N). Can you tell me yours?” You asked sincerely, taking in the situation. To you, this seemed like a broken collar bone from where the patient’s hand was positioned.
“Vikk, my name’s Vikk.” He replied through gritted teeth. You could see clearly that he was in a lot of pain.
“Ok then Vikk, can you tell me where it hurts?” You asked, running through the questions that you needed answering before you could begin any form of treatment.
“My shoulder, I think I broke something.” He whimpered out, you felt a lot of sympathy for him.
You ran through your final questions, finally being able to give Vikk some pain relief. You got him on to the stretcher and gave him some morphine to numb the pain. Once the medication began to kick in, you started wheeling him out to the ambulance. You were guided by the tall blond guy again. Once Vikk was loaded into the back of the ambulance you secured the stretcher and began to close up.
“Hey, is it alright if I go with him?” The blond asked. You nodded in confirmation, allowing him to jump in the back with his friend. You climbed in after him to monitor Vikk’s sats. As soon as the ambulance started to move, Vikk was out like a light. You kept a close eye on him throughout the journey while trying to get an explanation from his friend.
“I’m Simon, by the way.” He stated, you smiled at him. He was a sweet looking guy, pretty much your type too. You didn’t want to think about that right now though.
“I’m (Y/N).” You replied with a small smile. A short time later you had arrived at the hospital. Opening the doors for the ambulance, you disengaged the breaks on the stretcher and grabbed the back, while your partner grabbed the front. You wheeled Vikk down the ramp and into A&E, handing him over to the doctors and nurses. You gave the doctors information on the situation before heading back out to the ambulance to finish up your report. About half an hour later, you were ready to go again. Everything was cleaned, reports were filed, and the ambulance was put back into service. Before leaving the hospital though, you were caught by Vikk’s friend Simon.
“Hey, I just wanted to say thanks for your help today, I know that Vikk really appreciates it. I know this probably isn’t the best time to ask but could I get your number at all?” He asked sincerely. You couldn’t help but laugh slightly.
You pulled your note pad out of your pocket, along with your pen. Quickly you scribbled down your name and phone number before handing it to Simon.
“There you go.” You said with a smile, he returned it, thanking you again before heading in to see Vikk. You headed back over to the ambulance, climbing in the passenger seat. Your partner gave you a sideways glance.
“Don’t even say it.” You glared at him.
“Say what? I didn’t say anything!” He protested, you continued to glare at him.
“You didn’t have to. I know what you’re thinking.” You knew that it was a bit of a grey area to give a patient’s friend your number, but there was something about this guy, Simon. You weren’t sure what it was yet, but you were determined to find out.
Driving down the familiar road through the trees and smelling the crisp fresh air as the wind whipped through my hair was like a flash to the past. Ever since I was about eight years old I had been coming to this summer camp. It was a two month camp that was a place for kids to be and have fun while not in school.
My mom had dropped me off and I grabbed my duffel, deciding to come back later for my larger suitcase. The air was warm and the sun was shining through the trees. Cabins lined the woods and a large fire pit was in the middle. It was all so familiar and refreshing.
"Y/n! It's so good to see you!" My friend Amberleigh called. She was already wearing a counselors uniform and her dark hair was put up in a ponytail.
"You too! Are we in the same cabin?" I asked.
"All of the female counselors have one and the males have another. Some of the guys are really cute you have to meet them." I giggled with her and we walked to our cabin.
"Alright counselors, most of you know all of the rules and regulations so I'm not worried about your leadership skills, those of you that are new you'll get a veteran partner to help you out." Our head counselor told us. "Y/n will you show Vik around?" She gestured to a darker skinned boy who looked up at me with kind eyes.
"Sure thing, come on." I smiled and he immediately looked a bit more relaxed than he did a few minutes before.
"So this is your first year here?" I asked making conversation as we walked.
"Yeah my parents told me I had to stop gaming so much so they sent me here. I still feel my fingers absentmindedly moving over a keyboard sometimes." We laughed and I showed him the medical building.
"I've been coming here since I was eight. I know this place like my own home." He watched me talk and smiled.
"Then you know all of the secret hiding places then?" I nodded and met his gaze. "You'll have to show me sometime."
"Of course." I said.
—
"They looked so scared! You handled that really well Vik." I complimented him. Some of the kids had just tried to sneak off into the woods to go swimming later and Vik had caught them, stopping them before they could get any further.
"Thanks, I was really nervous that they wouldn't listen to be honest."
"I knew they'd listen. You have authority here. And it's their last night, they wouldn't want to get banned and not be able to come back next year. Speaking of, are you coming back next year?" I asked him.
"Depends. Are you?" I smiled and nodded my head yes. "Then definitely."
———
[Four Years Later]
"Vikky!" I screamed seeing my best friend exit his car.
"Y/n!" He called back, running towards me with his arms open. We embraced and pulled back with the widest smiles on our faces. This was our last year of being counselors together before we head off to uni in the fall.
"Are you ready for a summer full of adventure?" He asked.
"I'm always ready."
—
"Hey Y/n? Are you almost ready? The fires about to begin." Vik knocked on the door of the cabin and announced.
"I'll be done in a few minutes, just freshening up." I had changed into a hoodie and some leggings, making sure I wouldn't get cold during the breezy autumn night. I put my phone in my pocket in case I needed a flashlight during tonight's events and headed out the door.
I spotted Vik sitting on an otherwise empty bench and I joined him, putting my feet up and waiting for everyone else to show up.
We made s'mores and talked, sharing stories and revealing our favorite moments from camping so far. Mine was getting to meet all of my friends and the other campers, as I said this, Vik put his arm around me and hugged me close. This wasn't unusual behavior for us but what happened a few minutes later was.
"I'm gonna turn in for the night guys." Vik stood up and silently told me to follow suit.
"Same actually, long drive home tomorrow." Everyone muttered their goodnights as Vik and I walked back towards the bunks.
"Hey, this way." He grabbed my hand and pulled me off the main path and into the path that takes you to the lake.
“Vik that’s off limits this late” I warned.
“And it’s your last night here, are you really that worried?” I shrugged, realizing he was right and following him to the dock.
He sat down and then reached into his jacket pocket, pulling out a bottle of Jack Daniels. “Thought we could use a little something to celebrate.” I let out a small gasp, shocked that he was doing this. He was normally a person that followed the rules but tonight seemed to be different.
He passed the bottle and I took a drink, letting the warm alcohol burn my throat. He did the same and we kept sharing and talking until I was definitely feeling a bit of a buzz from the strong liquor.
“Can I tell you something?” He asked as we laid back and looked at the stars.
“Anything.”
“I’ve had a bit of a crush on you for the past two years.” He turned his head to look at me.
“Really? Why didn’t you say something sooner?” I asked, turning to look at him as well.
“I was afraid you wouldn’t feel the same and it would ruin our friendship.” Almost as if it was an instinct, I moved myself so I was laying on top of him, looking into his shocked eyes as his hands grabbed my waist lightly.
“You were dead wrong, Vik.” A burst of confidence came over me and I leaned in, kissing him softly as the alcohol mixed with my thoughts. One completely sober thought sticking out to me: I wanted him.
“Y/n, we don’t have to do this.” He said out of breath. I shook my head and continued to take off my top.
“I know. But I want to.” This seemed to light a fire within him as he started to remove my clothes as well as his.
He was gentle and passionate, caring for my every need as he pushed in and pulled out, giving me the utmost pleasure. After we had both reached our climax we laid there for a minute before redressing ourselves.
“I don’t want this to be the end of us Vik. Sheffield isn’t that far from Manchester. We can make it work.” He nodded, kissing me softly.
“I know we can. I’ll visit you every holiday I can.”
“And I’ll do the same. This isn’t just a summer fling, right?”
"Of course not." He put his arm around me and we walked back to the cabins. He kissed me goodnight and I went into bed, realizing that all of these summers weren't just good memories to look back on. They were also opportunities to make more memories throughout my life.
"Did he kiss you?" I heard Amberleigh mutter in her sleepy state. I giggled.
"Yes."
"Thank fuck it's about time you two realized you're mad for each other." And with that she rolled over and went to sleep.
