genuinely the funniest thing to happen in Arcane is when they had it at the game awards and 21Pilots gave the cuntsiest performance of their whole career as they flashed all of Viktor's gayest scenes on the screen behind them and like less then five seconds after he had finished singing his heart out and jayvik had committed suicide together the announcer guy got back on stage to announce that they had lost to the Fallout live action show

got bored and tried to figure out what variety of marigold the siblings were in the ending shot (idk why either, man) and figured out that they're probably French marigolds, which look like these guys:

compared to the brellies:

seems decently accurate, from what i can tell. they're definitely more on the yellow side compared to the deeper orangey tone of some of the real marigolds, but pigmentation can vary and the lighting is definitely different between a few of them.

that all being said, BORING WAY TO DO IT. INSTEAD, WE DERAIL TO WHAT VARIETIES I THINK EACH OF THEM SHOULD'VE BEEN. no way in hell they'd all be uniform matching little flowers. this is the umbrella academy, they thrive on chaos and their lack of cohesion. i'm going mainly off of looks for these. if you disagree with a pick, yell at me in the notes!! we need more sillyposting!!!!

Luther:

african marigold! these dudes are the biggest variety, so it felt fitting. they also look like big huggable pom-poms to me, so that's a win.

Diego:

strawberry blonde marigolds. little more on the red side-- fitting when you take into account the vigilante work. still adorable tho

Allison:

signets! cutie patooties, vaguely lemon flavored, and one of my personal favorites.

Klaus:

jolly jester. silly goober. loud and proud, iconic, what's not to like?

Five:

durango marigolds. the name is just a happy coincidence here, but man are these ones fitting. almost resembles blood splatter if you squint, and that's pretty fitting imo

Ben:

KEY LIMES!!!! these guys are one of my all timers and i used to grow them. little weirdos.

Viktor:

alumia vanilla cream! pretty close to a white swan marigold in terms of color, but still has some warmth to it. ironically, these dudes bloom early.

Lila:

lemmon's marigolds. doesn't look quite like the standard marigold, but still one of them!

they couldn’t have Grace be as present in s3/4 because she would’ve beat Luther out of the water on the Viktor acceptance train. she would’ve decorated and baked for the big stupid party to make him feel loved™. she would’ve sewn him binders/new affirming clothes without hesitation. Grace Hargreeves would go to war for her son and nobody can prove me wrong

once again feeling bitter viktor and diego didn’t have anything in their teen years in the show canon like they do the comics. they were supposed to be little punk RATS give me a flashback of them sneaking out and getting their asses kicked at a shitty dive bar
