BBC Father Brown characters as Muppet Christmas Carol characters
twelve days of fishmas, day 4 — carol
ok so some of these are very close matches, some are more based on half-vibes, and some are just,,, the only characters i had left. i have tried to make them work, but in some cases you may find me willfully ignoring parts of father brown canon to make things fit (esecially with the women bc there are only like six female characters in the movie and two of them are bloody identical). pls just ignore this gjshfjdhf
pls also ignore any odd relationships / dynamics that appear as a result of certain character pairings — this is solely about the individual characters, not how they interact and whatnot. (sullivan and grace i am so so so sorry for giving you characters who are courting in the movie,,, but also this is on you for fitting those characters so well 😭😭)
Inspector Sullivan as Ebenezer Scrooge
Obsessed with his work. Spends most of his life being a grumpy fuck and lashing out at the people around him, but does a personality 180 after being shown how to let love into his heart
Father Brown as Charles Dickins (Gonzo)
Tells the story, knows things about its events that he seemingly shouldn’t, and is unnecessarily vague about how he knows these things and what’s going to happen next
Sid Carter as Rizzo the Rat
Food-obsessed chaos gremlin. Doesn’t think things through before he does them, and is inclined to fight rather than flight
Inspector Mallory as Jacob / Robert Marley (Statler / Waldorf)
Does his job as he sees fit, and doesn’t care whose life he ruins in the process. Only regrets his actions when it personally affects him, and even then doesn’t do much to change his ways. Also lots of heckling
Mrs McCarthy as The Ghost of Christmas Past
Somehow knows everything about everyone, and will recount these stories with no regard for how it’ll impact the people involved. Values tradition and a connection with the past
Inspector Valentine as The Ghost of Christmas Present
Just sort of gets how things work. Disappears after a short time, having been through a facial hair transformation
Daniel Whittaker as The Ghost of Christmas Future
Ominous bastard
Sergeant Goodfellow as Bob Cratchit (Kermit)
Puts up with so much bullshit at work, but is chronically underpaid and underappreciated by his boss. Well-liked by seemingly everyone in the area
Felicia Montague as Emily Cratchit (Miss Piggy)
Stylish, speaks her mind, and isn’t afraid to resort to outright threats of violence when she feels the situation calls for it. Tries to hide her emotional pain from others
Blind 'Arry as Tiny Tim (Robin the Frog)
Kind and generous, willing to do anything to help others. Has a disability that makes it harder to navigate the world
Bunty Windermere as Belinda / Betina Cratchit
Speaks her mind, and will correct people when she disagrees with what they’re saying. Considers “badly-dressed” to be a grave insult
Eddie Devine as Peter Cratchit
I literally forgot they both existed???
Father Lindsey as Fred, Scrooge’s nephew
Enthusiastic about seemingly everything. Tries to do what he thinks is best, but doesn’t always consider what might happen as a result
Grace Sullivan as Belle, Scrooge’s former love interest
Found a love that she thought would last forever, but had to watch as it faded to nothing because of her partner prioritising work over their relationship
Isabel Devine as Clara, Fred’s wife
Able to come up with unique and out-of-the-box ideas and solutions that others might not think of
Brenda Palmer as Boy (Bean Bunny)
Dealt bad cards in life that have led to hardship and prejudice against them. Eventually given employment by someone who cares
Walter Sullivan as Schoolmaster (Sam Eagle)
Prioritises work and productivity over all else, and instills this unhealthy work ethic in those he teaches
Hercule Flambeau as Old Joe
Shady but charming, and therefore able to get people to do what he wants with minimal effort. Many illegal activities
Vincent Lazarus as the cat that chases Rizzo when they go to the past
An antagonist that’s more annoying than interesting, and has approximately ten seconds of screentime
