All he wanted at this point was just to crawl back into bed and sleep until the weekend. Walking across the dorm halls, Auel carried his books like they were about five times heavier than they seemed to be, and while moving his feet lazily towards the door, he balanced the weight of the books onto his left arm. ‘16’ read the numbers in front of him, Auel pulled his keys from the right pocket of his sweat pants and slowly unlocked the door.
With a mixture of relief and distress, he walked his way into the dorm like he did every night, carelessly closing the door behind him as he did. Auel supposed his roommate would be home already, just like every day of every week; but he hadn’t been happy with the idea, especially not lately.
Dropping the books like dead weight on the nearest surface, he sighed and pulled his shoes off. The lights of the dorm were off, and the room was conveniently illuminated by the moon and the lights outside a big window. Shifting his gaze quickly around the place, Auel noticed the light coming from under the closed door of the bedroom. He decided he’d go to the kitchen instead and treat himself a glass of chocolate milk, maybe two, or three; hoping his presence was unnoticed.
