i really hate to be doing this again but

hey!! this is vinn. let me highlight exactly what’s going on.

a) i’m no longer a college student, for a multitude of reasons that i refuse to elaborate on in a public post anyway.

b) i recently left my family in order to flourish and grow in a less oppressive environment.

c) if i don’t find a place by the end of september (today is 9/26/20 by the way), i’m most likely going to be homeless.

in essence, i’m asking for your help with multiple things. my bank account is draining (i have ~700 but i currently am in the los angeles area, where rent is absolutely horrid) and i have no idea where to start with finding somewhere affordable when my bank account is more than likely half of what an average month of rent is. 

so i’m 

a) looking for a new place to stay: i’m already doing my own looking, but if any of you know a person, i’d love to know!

b) trying to save up because i know that even if i do find a place, i’ll probably only be able to barely pay for a month, let alone food and groceries and utilities and the such

please, please spread this! anything helps, really. especially because of everything happening in the world right now, it’s incredibly difficult for me. finding a job is impossible and there’s nothing i can do at the moment but pray that i stay afloat. i’m trying to find a permanent place to stay because i’ve moved three times in the past five months or so and it’s wearing me down. i know i’m resorting to begging on the internet for help but i legitimately do not know what more i can do. please don’t guilt-trip yourself either though.

I FUCKING HATE DATING CULTURE IN THIS GENERATION

I’ve been at my new school for two days and there’s two new dudes in my life we’ll call them Thing 1 and Thing 2

first off I want to say that I think if you’re aromantic you’re just destined to have a ridiculous amount of people crushing on you compared to straight people like it’s just a canon event it’s happened to me so many times before

now I don’t really like Thing 1. He’s a normal guy. A little annoying but not too bad. I just don’t enjoy his company that much and I don’t consider my friend. I literally met him two days ago, anyway. Thing 2 is a bit better. I like him as a person, he’s kinda funny and seems respectful, so I would say we’re more acquainted than me and Thing 1.

however. these are both men, and I’m a girl (sometimes. that’s just what they think because I’m not about to be openly queer in a brand new environment). I wouldn’t even call myself that pretty or anything. but they both, and Thing 1 especially, seems to be kinda taking more of a liking to me, to put it nicely.

my sister said today that Thing 2 “obviously likes me”. I don’t know what I think of that. Thing 1 is more of a dubious situation. on the first day he was really pushy and seemed desperate to be around me, I felt pretty uncomfortable around him but he’s toned it down today. I don’t want to sound vain or anything I genuinely don’t understand why he seems so interested in me.

towards the end of the day we had to do a partner activity. I was sitting with my sister (two to a table) but she and Thing 1 got switched so we could be partnered with people we don’t know. he seemed happy about this. I tried to not let my disappointment show too much. Thing 2 was sat directly behind me with his partner. we chatted for most of the activity (me and Thing 2 mostly. Thing 1 was a bit awkward with me). it went pretty okay, and warmed up to Thing 2 a bit more. however, when we walked out of school, my sister said to me “don’t lead him [Thing 1] on. Don’t lead either of them on.”

I hated that, but it was also kind of a hard truth. I can’t be friends with boys or be friendly with them in this generation because it’s automatically translated into something romantic. I don’t want either of them. I don’t like men or anyone. it wasn’t even flirting. we were just talking like acquaintances. but with dating culture nowadays, that counts as leading them on. friendliness counts as leading someone on. which I think is the stupidest shit ever.

especially because I would genuinely like to form a friendship with Thing 2. he seems fun and cool. but I can’t do that because A) people will perceive it as something romantic when it’s not and B) if he does like me, he’ll think that’s me reciprocating those feelings and I’ll end up breaking his heart. yeah neither of those are very good options.
