Violka being emo after high elves make him bleach his hair

He missed the dark purple his hair had been. As he studied his reflection, his bleached hair made him look all the more strange. Unearthly but not divine. Never divine. While the others were beautiful and radiant, he would never resemble light. Somehow he could only look dimmer with blond hair. Already he had the appearance of a black and white photograph - faded and bland. The blond should have helped, but the contrast with grey skin was too discordant.

This wasn't him, but it was an easy change. Why complain? They were trying to help him fit in with high elves. Or maybe it was a joke. They knew it would look strange, and it was something to laugh at. He was beneath them, after all. They couldn't really like him. He would never be one of them, yet he was doomed to dedicate himself to the attempt. He would never be beautiful or noble, only dull and poor.
