Omg I have way too many help!! I’ll type up a couple haha, but most of these will probably be from my The Losing Battle (We Won’t Stop Fighting) fic or in that reality that currently has stupidly slow updates because I couldn’t commit to the bit and decided to rework the entire second half of the fic (as one does :p)

Treech has a pet duck named Bark. Originally named Silver-Bark after the silver birch tree because her feathers are white, but at some point it became a dog pun. No one knows where she came from but it doesn’t cost them anything to keep her around because she finds her own food so they let him keep her. Lamina’s favorite thing about the duck is how adorable Treech looks when he plays with and hugs Bark.

Lamina’s grandparents don’t approve of their relationship at first because she’s technically marrying down but when they see just how much he would sacrifice for her they warm up to him pretty quickly

They hate each other’s mentors with a burning passion. Treech hates Pup because Pup got annoyed with Lamina for being “too emotional” which is extremely cruel and insensitive given her situation, and nothing Pup does to try and make up for his behaviour will ever negate that first impression for Treech. Lamina hates Vipsania because Vipsania was genuinely a bad mentor to Treech, never showing up and leaving him to fend for himself before she had a change of heart and started slowly helping him out more, but by that point it was too late in Lamina’s eyes.

Due to the movie outfits I headcanon Lamina is from the slightly more well off part of District 7 that mostly handles the factory side of lumber, ie processing the wood into paper and furniture and stuff. Treech is from the Fringe, which is my made up Seam area for District 7. They work in the lumberyards but usually have to take up second and third jobs to make ends meet, in Treech’s case it’s wood carving to create ornaments and decorate products as well as his theater side gig with his friends.

Speaking of, Treech writes music and stage plays to entertain the people in District 7, including the peacekeepers in the Fringe who are generally nicer than peacekeepers throughout the rest of the district because of how poor the Fringe is. When everyone has it rough, you commiserate in the misery and all that.

They meet when Treech is begging for food in a particularly rough winter where there was so little food basically a third of the Fringe’s population died of starvation. He’d been so desperate to support his siblings and his dad that he stayed outside too long and would’ve died of hypothermia if Lamina hadn’t found him and taken him into her home to let him warm up.

When they fell in love with each other varies a bit for me depending on the story, but my favorite one (outside of the soulmate fic I wrote for Hannah/@ylvisruinedmylife way back when) is in The Losing Battle where Treech loved her from basically the day they met because he’s a hopeless romantic, but he knew she didn’t like him back at the time so he settled for just being in her life as a friend because he values her as a person and being around her is enough for him. He never confesses because he doesn’t ever expect her to like him back. Lamina has also cared about him deeply for years, but she was oblivious to her own feelings until they spent their nights at the zoo together and she realised that what she felt for him was love. She starts wondering how much more they could’ve had and it makes her realise she’s in love with him.

So basically Treech fell first but Lamina fell harder (even though that’s kinda debatable because Treech is a top tier, gold medal, epicentral mass simp)

People think Treech is the protective one because Lamina cries quite easily, but actually it’s Lamina. You misplace one hair on his head and you’re dead

Treech is protective as well but he won’t tear you limb from limb, making you suffer and burn until you beg for the mercy of death. He ruins your life in other ways

That said both of them are extremely mellow. Treech is pretty quiet in general until he’s comfortable enough with you to let his inner theater kid out and Lamina’s very kind and gentle with everyone she meets, it’s just that if you mess with the other you unleash a hellish beast you should’ve kept dormant.

In book canon, I think Treech and Lamina made the mutual decision not to stay with each other because they knew one would have to die and they didn’t want the other to see them die if it came down to that. They also didn’t wanna see each other die or be forced to kill the other, obviously.

In the movie, I’m kinda split on why Treech left. Part of me thinks it was to try and not paint a target on Lamina’s back, which 100% would’ve happened if he’d said no to Coral. However, part of me also staunchly defends the idea that if you expected Treech to lessen his own chances of survival just to avoid hurting Lamina when one of them had to die anyway, you are a heartless bitch, so I don’t wanna spend too much time justifying that decision when it’s justified purely by the fact that he is a child who is about to step into a fight to the death. I apologise for the tangent but I do not understand why people villainised him for it. Yeah Lamina’s face when it happens is super sad, but like- what was Treech supposed to do here? Die?? I don’t think we should romanticise straight up killing yourself for your lover because that’s not really healthy. It’s heartbreaking and selfless when a character does something like that, but we shouldn’t expect these children to do that. Let’s popularize being okay with a kid not wanting to die lol

Unfortunately I cannot stand on my soap box for too long because of what I’m writing in The Losing Battle, but in my defence it’s not supposed to be healthy. Lamina and Treech are both coping poorly by overcommitting and they acknowledge it so I think I still have some ground to stand on here

Treech found a hollow under a tree once and made it a little safe space that he ended up sharing with Lamina. It’s basically a little underground room hidden by the roots of a tree with pillows made from fabric scraps left over from the furniture factory and all sorts of trinkets and knicknacks. First because Treech kept stealing from asshole peacekeepers and later because he and Lamina started making things together for dates.

Treech finds any excuse to help transport lumber to the factories so he can see Lamina during work hours because they physically cannot be apart from each other for extended periods of time

Treech has written an embarrassing amount of songs for Lamina that he will never ever ever play for people in public because of how sappy they are. He performs the less obvious ones though and they’re still adorable

Lamina knows about the songs. She found the little notebook he keeps them in and occasionally looks through it when she’s feeling down because her sweet boyfriend’s lovely words always cheer her right up

Treech knows Lamina found the songs. He was a bit embarrassed at first but he doesn’t mind her reading through them if it makes her happy
