OoC: whatever i might as well aka someday i will destroy them all n thank u for rp
Aya sometimes does a meme on inspiration for characters and I know zero posted something on character inspirations too!
so if not for my own logs to someday come across and laugh at myself, I'm listing it somewhat here:
Rock was not modelled after Sayf
rock was not modelled after sayf
rock was not modelled after sayf
rock was not modelled after sayf
Rock was not modelled after Sayf
reason being: Rock actually came before Sayf in all technicality. I got interested in Lacroan knights independently for a couple of months and immediately afterwards, joined UBF OCT with Shanon on a whim. That's what started me back in Pokemon, and thus eventually leading me to creating Dresca and Sayf along with that.
Yes, unfortunately, like all powerhouse muses they have a lot in common. :'I
I also hate to say this but they both are probably a lot more precious characters to me then I let on, because they both have some traits from my father.
that will never stop me from killing them because they are characters not people :3c
I talk a lot about using Gundam Wing as a guide to produce Battle, Nataku, and Rock, and using Deed and Zero as "examples" of what that contrast and parody would be. It was an attempt, anyway.
My headcanon for the longest time was Nataku lost his arm trying to save Meilan, and then randomly I find an official post of Nat with a different weapon on the wiki with... hand intact. SG and I decided to drop that, which he is more than happy about.
Battle has a lot of jokes about my red headed characters, but really, I see a lot of basis from Atsuto in him. They're both too nice and giving for their own good, and have some inherent clumsy attribute or failure of development that make them as skilled as everyone else around them. Spoiler alert: I killed Atsuto too and he was way more desu and adorable than Battle ever has been. No one is safe.
I think part of my attempt on Battle is to play a character who has a nice guy syndrome without being a NiceGuy (TM), the asshole who thinks his kindness has to be reciprocated. There are real men out there who cannot genuinely "keep" a solid relationship with a girl.
Yaku is my favorite OC of all, but his story is so DAMN complex, he's very limited in rp and I have no qualms about that. He was created way before Atsuto, but they both have an intertwined fate with their sibling. Fate and luck are very heavily based on his story in particular (his name is meant to mean "No Luck" while his older sister's is "Bad Luck", afterall).
Luna was hard for me to work out initially. Silver was easier because he acts as a good foil for Rock and also a good point of where Rock developed his tenacity and inability to let things go easily as his older brother figure wouldn't. As for Luna, I hate to say she probably began with some Des syndrome as well (childhood friend/lover who was killed/disappeared- luckily, on Rock's point, it was not a point of bitterness)... I'm somewhat happy to announce she's evolved in the fact of what her relationship with Rock truly is, but also slightly disturbed by it. Because this is not at all what I expected, and it is disturbing.
Merryn was a support character in Tenmei: Hinomoto Botsu and originally Rele's cousin who was studying to be a priestess on a frozen mountain in Lacroa's Kingdom. She dealt with spirits moreso than any other magic. Converting her to Diudesk was easier with using Ancient Runes instead. She was also a doppleganger for Rele which effectively DID fool the Gundam Force in the fic, though she's not quite as effective here likewise. I guess we can even say a very mild similarity to Merida from Brave, with much more suffocating restraints and less intuitiveness of escaping her "box" of normalcy.
Vir is my favorite in development at the moment! It's been a while to have a character completely fresh and testing. Most of her inspiration actually comes from Lisbeth from The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. They're not so similar that they're identical, but the concept was new for me to roleplay. This is a woman who has been kicked in the teeth by figures of authority and men. Revenge is not a dialog in her story. If an opportunity arises for justice, she seeks it, but her own self preservation comes before all else. Vir is still subject to abuse because of her identity (thus freedom) in this case, as opposed to Lisbeth's entrapment to Bjurman, her "legal guardian" who holds money over her head to sexually abuse her. Her extreme disenchantment turned her away from being open to people and she tried very hard to find peace in her solitude. Rock luckily, finds a way to change this in her through his honesty and chivalric code, making her enabled to be roleplayed (since characters who refuse to interact with other characters make for extremely bad roleplay).
Artistically, Florence + the Machine, Adele, Imogen Heap, Regina Spektor, and VersaEmerge (prolly in that order) are all motivations towards her sound. A lot of synth is used, but the quality of the music always comes from her voice, the instrumentals only emphasizing that.
