@vital-compulsion replied: I just want one suit, I'd be happy with any of them. How many diamonds for one whole suit, and would you personally recommend participating for a f2p player who would likely be spending all her savings? I'm relatively new to the game, and haven't been through one of these yet so I'm not sure what to do and if it'll be worth it.
So, first of all, how much it cost depends on whether you want to finish a minor suit or one of the main suits. (If you’re not sure what I mean by that, check out this post.) My guess is you’re asking about the main suits, though. For the main suits you need to collect a specific number of the event currencies to reach a milestone; upon reaching that milestone, you’ll receive an entire suit. The first milestone you need to reach to get one suit will cost you 1860 diamonds. This will probably also get you several pieces of minor suits as well. (For the prices of other milestones, see this post.)
As to whether or not it’s worth it for a f2p (free-to-play, for anyone who doesn’t know) player to do, that’s really up to you. But here’s some things that I do when trying to decide which suits to get and which suits to ignore. Look at the suits that are being offered and decide if any of them are worth almost 2000 diamonds to you. My art of war tag has detailed pics of all the suits and Iri has made an amazing video that shows all the pieces of the suits. (I often use Iri’s videos where she shows off the individual pieces of a suit to decide if I think it’s worth spending my diamonds on.) Don’t just look at the whole suit, look at the individual pieces. Do you like them? Do you think you’ll use them? Do you care enough about Competition that whether or not they’ll be useful there is a factor worth considering?
This hell event (explanation here of what a hell event is, if you don’t know) is different, too. Usually there’s a set order to hell events: you’ll get X suit at the first milestone and Y suit at the second, etc. However, in Art of War there’s no set order to the suits, so it’s completely random which on you’ll get at that first milestone. (Except for [Prosperous Reign], which you can only get at the fifth milestone.) So on top of deciding if you like any of the suits enough to get it, you have to decide if you like the suit (or suits) enough that you’ll still feel okay with spending those diamonds if you don’t get what you want. I have one suit that I really want ([Flashing Wind], I need me those skeleton limbs} and I’ve personally decided that that suit, for me, is worth spending almost 2k diamonds and not getting it (maybe more, I really really need those skeleton limbs). But that’s me, personally, and I can’t tell you if that will be worth it for you.
It is perfectly okay if you skip this event. Very few people do every event and the general assumption is that everyone is skipping a few events here and there, including hell events. And hell events are so damn expensive that unless you see something you really like, I’d say you should definitely consider skipping them. There will be more hell events in the future; old ones that return (you can check some of those out in the Achievement > Story Suit tab) and brand new ones that our server hasn’t seen yet. So it’s completely worth it to hang onto your diamonds for something you want more. It’s especially worth checking out future hell event suits, as one of the best ways I find to save diamonds is by thinking about how much I want a specific (super expensive) suit. I don’t currently have pics of future hell event suits (it’s on my list of things to do) but Iri has several videos showcasing them. And if you do skip this hell event and regret it, don’t worry, hell events come back! They’ll be slightly more expensive but they will be back.
And don’t feel like just because you’re a f2p player that you can’t participate fully in hell events because they’re super ridiculously expensive. I went through three hell events as a f2p player, completing two and getting to the third milestone of the third one. I did this by being extremely selective about which regular events I spent diamonds on.
I know this is a lot to take in at once (especially since I’m really really wordy), but hopefully that means I’ve answered any other questions you might run into. If I didn’t, feel free to ask more! I don’t mind at all. I do hope this helped a bit. This is a hell of a hell event to start out on (most are not quite this expensive, usually 8k-10k diamonds to get all the main suits) and so I can only imagine what it must be like to be staring at 15k for your first experience. But they’re not all this expensive and there are so many amazing suits in the future if you don’t like the ones in this event. Either way, enjoy the craziness that surrounds the Nikki fandom during a hell event and may you get your favorite suit if you do choose to get to that first milestone!
