Search Every Tweet Ever in the Twitter app

As Federico Viticci of MacStories just pointed out, Twitter announced on its Engineering Blog that every tweet since 2006 has been successfully indexed earlier today. It's a tremendous feat given the scale Twitter's had to work with, and you can read the details on the blog if you're interested.

Notably, this means that you can now search every tweet ever sent in the official Twitter app for iOS. Here's how:

In the Search Bar, you enter a name, date, and what you're searching for, formatted "from:[name] since:[yyyy-mm-dd] [search query or hashtag]". Hit search then switch from Top Tweets to All Tweets, and voila.

Here are a few examples:

from:karan301_ searches all tweets from @karan301_ ever.

from:karan301_ since:2014-11-17 searches all tweets from @karan301_ since yesterday.

from:karan301_ since:2009-04-01 test searches all tweets from @karan301_ since April 1st 2009 that contain the word test.

from:karan301_ since:2009-04-01 #mufc searches all tweets from @karan301_ since April 1st 2009 that contain the hashtag #mufc.

Pro tip: from:username filter:links – search for all the links you've ever tweeted in the Twitter app

Marco Arment’s long awaited podcast app, Overcast (iTunes Link), has finally released. After reading about its 1.0 features, I’m more intrigued about its prospects than I thought I’d be— especially the Smart Speed feature which could allow me to listen to more podcasts in a shorter period.

I’m going to give it a try this week and see if it could replace my current pod catcher, Pocket Casts. Also, if you want to read a great review on Overcast, check out Federico Viticci’s. Overcast is free to try and has a $4.99 in-app purchase to receive the full experience.

Apple Updates OS X Mountain Lion to 10.8.2

Following the iOS 6 release, Apple has released OS X 10.8.2 which most noticeably brings in Facebook Integration.

This morning Viticci asked himself if he was the only one thinking that podcasts where too long.

I am probably the last person to talk about podcasts: I don't like them much and I have no patience at all: 10 minutes for me are 10 minutes too long. The only one I listen to, at times, is BreviAccenni. I'm more of a reading person I guess.

Anyway, I agree with Viticci that podcasts should be shorter and more to the point. Then a Twitter friend, @linuz90 proposed something awesome, that could potentially make me love and listen to podcasts:

This, translated in English, sounds something like this: it wouldn't be bad at all if Podcast's creators could tag pieces of their episodes in a way similar to Final Cut Pro's keywords so to insert the division created directly into the feed. He even went further and created a sweet mockup:

This is really a great proposal and this way I would be able to see which parts interest me and just listen to those. Plus, I would finally have an excuse to buy Instacast HD (I haven't bought it yet even if I WANT TO, because, logically, I can't justify the purchase of a podcast reader as I don't listen to podcasts).

I think this way of seeing things works for just about anything. As with many other aspects of life, the “just a little better” hiding behind the corner often leads to unbeaten paths and new milestones. I always make an effort to peek through the veil of options. And after that it’s just a balance between the potentially positive impact of better and the fear of leaping that’s holding you back.

For how I am as a person I like, when I read something that I agree/disagree with, to dissect and "answer" to it with my opinions. 

This is not the case. I 100% agree with what's written but I believe there's not much else to say. Don't misunderstand me - people could talk hours about these topics, but in this case I think it's enough if you just read and let it sink in.
