Making friends - Vlacious
Time is an odd thing. Ever since Cora had lost that one day she had the feeling of chasing after the clockhand. Or maybe the clockhand was chasing her, she really wasn't too sure here.
She knew that the problem was not that her workload per se wasn't managable – but of course she also had to see Antalon and try to learn what she could about astral-travelling in the memories of another person and she'd hoped that training with Cas would make her feel better...
But just like with Reggie she'd felt... strangely tongue-tied, avoiding the whole big topic 'Valentine' altogether because somehow she feared that losing just one single word about what truely bugged her – hell, she didn't even know what that was! Not exactly, anyway.... it was the sum, the grand total! Yes, and thus she feared that talking about it would be like opening Pandora's box, that she wouldn't stop talking then until she'd spilt her whole heart out and..... she wasn't sure why this would be a bad thing. That's what what friends are for, after all, right? (Or... at least part of it, of course nice things like goofing around and just having a good time together was an important part of friendship as well!)
But she just couldn't, because somehow it was 'too big', too complex, too confusing.... too much. Ignoring it, talking, laughing, thinking about other things was easier.
She couldn't remember ever having been in a situation like this. And she hated it. Hated that it made her break her own resolutions, hated that it made her feel like a god-damned coward – for she knew she was running away from something here! Hated that it haunted her and that she thus spent way too much time 'in her own head', staring blankly at the screen or the canvas or just out of the window getting nothing done.
And Tuesday came ever-closer and she didn't feel... prepared at all! Which was a horrible feeling that made her want to stop that clockhand and, at the same instant, speed time up. She wanted this to be over – and hell, part of her, the part she felt was truely her at the core, curious, adventurous, dare-devil Cora, not this little scaredy-bird she'd somehow turned into, even looked forward to it.
Because really, what was she fussing about here, anyway? She'd see the Wolf and if there was only one thing that was certain than.... it was that it would be another adventure, with surprises and challenges after any twist and turn, with mysteries to be uncovered and new things to be learned, a rich, plentiful canvas of awe so...... basically what she's always been living for, right?
It was, and right now she was looking for 'something new' on her own – making good use of the break during her shift by exploring the Maiden's Head a bit more. It was a wonderland-type of place, after all, as exotic and wild and colorful as the creatures in it – just like the girl she'd been watching for a while now, the dancer with the fancy clothes and the colorful hair. Every little detail about her was..... eye-catching, fascinating, like an intricate work of art...
