Dreamworks Is NOT Going To Scrap Klance
https://twitter.com/barleedraws/status/1028812891565092864
Barlee saying that Voltron had to scrap some things regarding the LGBT rep was NOT referring to Klance, but Adam and Shiro. It never had to do with Klance. Barlee was referring to Adam and Shiro. So the theory that was part of the discourse today is denied and proven not to be true. Just wanted to spread the word! Keep doing what you’re doing to make yourselves be heard. It really is making a difference! The way the LGBT rep was handled in season 7 was not okay. I just wanted to clear up that Barlee was referring to Adam and Shiro, not Klance!
GUYS
so I read somewhere that Keith’s wolf does have a name, but it was a s7 spoiler, so they didn’t say it in s6,,,
What if keith named his wolf aDAM
GUYS
So I had a pretty terrible thought and upon further contemplating I believe it to be correct. I've thought something like this before but didn't fully believe it but after seeing season 8, I think it may be true.
I think that maybe the creators intended for Klance to be endgame because I mean all the freaking build up but because of all the crap that the fandom put them through they changed it.
That would be horrible of them but I think that could of been what happened. Which really really freaking sucks.
Honestly episode 1 of season eight set up the perfect layout for Klance to happen this season and the transition from allurance to Klance. Betweeen that and all of the build up, color coding, and romanticly coded scenes, I truly believe Klance was the original intent but they were just like fuck it after what the fandom had done and said in regards to Klance throughout the previous seasons (I know that obviously not all people who ship Klance, not even the majority, were negative and harmful with the ship, but many were and that defentitly caught the creators attention). So, because of the harmful things the antis (I believe that's what they are called..?) did, the creators decided not to go in the direction of Klance. Which breaks my heart, honestly.
Of course, this is a horrible decision on their part and they shouldn't let the fandom influence them away from the original idea they have been building up to.
Just my thoughts, I obviously don't agree with this decision if it is really what happened.
Also, I personlly kind of think Keith and Lance's stories had a bit of an open ending so maybe they tried to salvage the original idea a little bit (if that even makes sense, I'm sure you've seen the posts talking about the ending and Klance an their future, that's kind of what I'm getting at).
I'm personally holding out hope for the comic continuation that we will get Klance That's probably not going to happen but I can always dream.
Obviously this is my opinion, you may agree or disagree, I would love to have a conversation with you and hear your thoughts on this idea, Klance, and the season/show in general. Just please if you are sharing your opinion/views be kind and respectful❤️
So i heard some kids (voltron’s target audience) didn’t even understand Shiro and Adam were supposed to be together. Cuz it’s only subtext and declared canon by the showrunners with some backstory never included in the canon material. So, I’ve been thinking lately about LGBT+ subtext in media particularly tv shows and cinema. It is so ingrained in LGBT+ culture to look for that subtext, that makes us feel like we have a secret code or something that the cishet don’t get. Well that’s the problem. They don’t get it.
And i want it blatantly shoved into their faces.
HELLO HI IM FUCKING SHOOK
so we all love lgbt rep in anything but honestly??? the way they did this??? im so fucking happy with what dreamworks has done. it wasnt something that was just thrown in to appease a crowd. it feels thought out and deliberate. im so fucking happy- not bc shance/sheith/ whatever man you ship shiro with suddendly seems more possible, but because shiro is a kind man who worked his ass off at the garrison and was the youngest on the flight to kerberos and now leads the mascot of a universal coilation and heads the defender of the universe and is gay. he is so much more than his sexuality because thats how he was built. you cant watch the entire show and only see shiro as The Queer One. you literally can not seperate that from his sexuality because they have given shiro such a great characterization and story, that HE is impossible to ignore. his sexuality is just the cherry on top.
For the people who need help understanding what happened to the fandom. I made this.
I've never posted anything like this. So bare with me.
And I'm not saying this because I don't want LGBT+ rep in the show (which btw we do have, go Shiro❤️) and of course I'm down for more rep, I always am but....
I ship Klance a lot (probably too much) and I honestly think the creators intended for Klance to be cannon from the beginning, due to romantically coded scenes and parallels and everything else I'm sure you've seen/read a thousand times, however I'm not sure I want Klance to be canon anymore, not with how people are acting and treating the crew members, threats are never okay and it's honestly kind of sick that people would be so harmful and full of hate over anything but eacpecially over a ship on a tv show, a show that was made with so much love for our enjoyment not to cause so much toxicity over something like shipping. Shipping is meant to be something fun that comes along with fandom...but shipping in the VLD fandom isn't fun, and that's sad.
I know that the Klance shippers that act like this are only a small group of the shippers, but If I was working on Voltron, I would change the ending if Klance was going to be canon, because those people don't deserve it.
