I didn’t realize how extreme not having my tablet would be in regards to this creative slump I’m in. I decided to go through some old drawings to try and find some motivation and also jot down some ideas ‘cause I have fuck all in terms of organization right now. Plus it’s a nice nostalgia trip, and you guys get to see my shit art from six years ago.
These are the first and second incarnations of Vita, conceptualized as a character I would use and eventually oversee the subplot for in a D&D campaign years ago. The plot never did become fully realized as that campaign eventually fell apart afterwards, and I never bothered to develop it further.
I’m a little embarrassed to admit Vita’s character was at first HEAVILY inspired by a certain character from a certain series; her full name was Vita Camellia, a near literal translation of said character’s name. Later on when I started fleshing out Vita more, I eventually dropped the surname as I started moving away from the original inspiration and made her more original.
She originally didn’t have the distinct “emo bangs”; I’m... not sure why I added them. Pretty sure it was just personal preference. The initial idea was to draw attention to her eyes (which is a remnant of the original inspiration) by hiding them while also setting up for her alternate design (which I’ve never shown before; that will come later).
On the subject of her eyes: they’re always filled rather oddly as I’m sure no one’s noticed - dark irises with white pupils that (are supposed to) glow. Yes, she’s meant to have freaky eye powers. In the context of D&D, I intended for her to always succeed on Insight checks, being able to see through lies. I think I had something in mind involving said power backfiring to some degree (hint: alternate design).
I’ll probably do this again with more old stuff ‘cause god knows the next time I’ll be able to make decent content (or any for that matter). Maybe I’ll talk about something else.
