I heard a recording of myself singing 6 years ago, before my vocal chords broke (I developed Vocal Nodules in 2022), and you know what? Like yeah I sometimes get sad I can't sing everything I used to sing, but I am HAPPY with my grounded, deeper and lower signing range. It is far more pleasant to listen to than me signing pop songs a register higher like I used to for some weird reason 🤷♀️ No wonder I messed up my vocal chords 😂
The longtime host recently had surgery on her vocal cords.
Imagine those little vocal folds, pristine and perfect at birth. Functioning with ease and as usual in babies and young children, with the best and most perfect vocal connection, there can be. What causes things to go wrong when all was perfect at the onset?
True vocal folds are no bigger than your little fingernail. They deserve careful use if they are to serve us well all our lives. Sometimes things go wrong, usually as a result of a poorly mixed cocktail of factors.
Does this sound familiar? Worse still, if this is something you are concerned about, you might gain some insight and help from reading about Susan’s story and what happened back in 2013 when she had a brush with vocal nodules.

Yesterday...
I had my initial appointment with my new Ear, Nose, & Throat Dr. I had a scope done, and unfortunately was diagnosed with vocal nodules & damage caused by acid reflux. I am so upset. I love to sing, I love to act, and it's been my lifelong dream to be on stage. In three weeks I go back to see a voice pathologist, but my doctor wants me to rest my voice as much as possible. If anyone has information on nodes I would really appreciate it!
If I have nodes on my vocal chords...
I can't even think about it without crying.
The one thing that I love about myself is my voice and that can't fucking get taken away from me. That's not right.
I just realized that today marks a year since I've had my nodes removed! I'm now back to singing a G sharp, which is momentous for me! Hmm. I think I should have a name for this holiday... Any suggestions?
