i’m so sorry about what you’re going through, this sounds awful. it sucks to lose both something that brings you joy and that connection to your community. if you need me to offer up a little prayer for you, say the word, and if not, good luck with your healing <3 <3 <3
I really appreciate that Anon. I spoke with my mentor and while I approached him with anxiety and anguish over the inconvenience I was causing him, he responded with so much sympathy and understanding. He said that my home will still be there. The community will figure it out and that I will return.
I feel such a profound world of lessons in this massive trial. I accept your prayers with a grateful heart.
So To cap an uglie semester I went to the doctor And I have vocal nodes Which means no performing or...well, really anything for 2-6 weeks Which sucks because I'm a vocal performance major And my barrier exam and jury are in 3 weeks I just Am so tired lmao
Any tips for preventing nodes? The idea of them absolutely terrifies me.
Practicing good technique. Really, that’s it. There is a notion that belting is going to cause nodes, but that’s just not true—unhealthy singing of any kind can cause nodes, and belting can be done safely just like any other style. Things that are going to cause nodes over time are straining, overproducing sound (meaning pushing to make sound), yelling, smoking, and vocal frying, amongst some other things as well. So if you’re practicing good technique and singing safely, there shouldn’t be a worry there. Because the thing is, if you practice poor technique and get nodes and get rid of them early, you’ll likely just get them again unless you change your technique or whatever habits are causing the nodes. So it really all stems from there.
I am sincerely worried I have vocal nodes and if I do I would probably cry for nine years straight.
i'm really freaking out because my singing voice has been really off lately, and my lower register is completely shot and now my higher register is going and i don't know why but my singing voice just sounds really weird and hoarse and i could have vocal nodules or something and i just can't handle that
um important
so a lot of you have seen that i sing
and hopefully a lot of you have seen the post i made about kittie possibly having vocal nodules
see, kittie is quite alright, but myself i'm not so sure about
i looked on the site i found while researching it myself on her behalf, and realized that lately the sore throat i've had (for about three weeks now) might just be more than a sore throat.
i figured it's probably just a cold at first but then it started to feel like i straining myself against something in my throat.
i'm going to talk to my doctor about it further on tuesday, but until i know for sure that this won't harm my voice for good, i'm going to try taking a break from recording/singing.
thank you everyone, i love you all <3
