i'm so curious. measure your vocal range at the link below and tell me:
12 or fewer semitones
12 to 17 semitones
18 to 23 semitones
24 to 29 semitones
30 to 35 semitones
36 to 41 semitones
42 to 47 semitones
48+ semitones
Take the 'Vocal Range Test' to find out what is your voice type, what's your vocal range and how you compare with famous singers.

i divided the options because 12 semitones is one octave, so it goes from -1 to 4+ octaves in half-octave increments. (that first option SHOULD say "fewer than 12" semitones, my b.)
if you want, rb and tag whether you're a singer / have done vocal training or not!
What best describes your vocal range?
Soprano
Mezzo-Soprano
Contralto/Alto
Countertenor
Tenor
Baritone
Bass
Something else
Not a singer/I don't know

What is your vocal range?! I've listened to your music over and over, again and again! Yet I can never figure it out!
It gets a lil blurry since I can do subharmonics and have a pretty nuts lower range in the mornings when I used to record bass for my acapella stuff. My RECORDED range is A0 - A6 But I always say my usable range is G2 - E5 since that's what I'm able to sing any time any day :) (unless I'm sick haha) For studio recordings I can usually go up to like A5 but I prefer to stay in the G2 - E5 area. With subharmonics I can usually go to around E1 / F1, but I'm also able to chest down to like A1/B1 in the mornings if I've been drinking the previous day haha Thanks for the question! This brought me back to the good ol' aca-days.
the vocal registers of all the iwg characters is very important to me
Achillean is a tenor, Ingressus is a baritone, A'arava (who you'll meet soon) is an alto, and Aegus is a bass.
i think its cool bc tenor and baritone are differences in tone, not range, unlike alto and soprano (although a baritone can usually sing lower notes than a tenor, and a tenor higher notes than a baritone) so their voices literally complement each other ahghghghghg
also take all this with a grain of salt idk music things i had to look this up on google
I HATE HOW HIGH MY VOICE IS I WANNA BE ABLE TO SING LIKE PATRICK STUMP AND LAYNE STALEY WHERE I CAN HIT REALLY LOW AND REALLY HIGH NOTES BUT I CAN ONLY HIT REALLY HIGH NOTES AND MID NOTES SOMEONE PUT ME ON T RIGHT MEOW
i couldn't help myself XD -a choir kid

I'm thinking of getting vocal coaching.
At the trans event I went to there was a nonbinary person who gave an introspective workshop, and their voice was just so unique and beautiful, resonant and clear and perfectly understandable in a crowd without them raising it, and they could switch effortlessly between male and female registers. And all I could think was "Holy SHIT I want that for me."
They were a former professional opera singer, so I'm guessing there are limits to how much of their vocal control is teachable (as opposed to being talent and genetic luck). But I still want to try.
Anyone have experience doing vocal training, tips, things to focus on, videos to recommend, qualities to look for in a coach?
For reference, I have an untrained alto voice and a lot of vocal fry in how I speak. I strain my voice automatically to sound "friendly and femme" when making phone calls or having interactions with strangers, and I hate it. I'd like to train my voice to become stronger, lower, and more resonant and carrying, and to maintain a confident and engaging speaking pace.
