Amaris I trust u..... how would you summarize Annihilation? What tropes does it have? What do u love about it? Idr the last time you annihilation posted but.... 👉👈
i never mind talking about annihilation omg i was actually annihilation posting a little yesterday in my post vaccine haze 🥴 lmfao
okay okay so annihilation is based off the first book of jeff vandermeer's southern reach trilogy also called annihilation but the movie takes a very different turn than the book does. i like them about equally, but if you're interested, the first book (and third) is fantastic and i'd recommend it
the film version is a scifi / horror (specifically eco & cosmic horror) story about a team of five women scientists who set off on an expedition to area x, an environment that formed after Something crashed into a lighthouse. a border was created, and it's expanding. the film centers lena, the biologist, who goes into area x after her husband returns from there no longer himself. her team's goal is to get to the lighthouse, but area x is not a normal environment and it will fuck with them first
i cannot say more without spoiling but there is a bear as well & his name is homerton.
as for things i love about annihilation.... i was talking about this yesterday but the cinematography is so lovely, especially the opening... the cold to warm the helplessly hoping to complete silence to the blood in the glass. i like the characters, though i wish they had included more of the psychologist's original role in the film, when she'd done much more brainwashing. one of my favourite scenes is the "And What Do We Know? We Know... That Lena...... Is A Liar" and josie's scenes with the flowers and the DEER... and homerton.....
Drew would you pick me to be on your dodgeball team be honest 🏹
YES. of course. all my mutuals are on my team. you have to form a wall to protect me bc I'm scared of getting hit in the face and breaking my nose again. ❤️
🎶 New Voice Change Timeline! 🎶. Haven't kept up with this very well the past several weeks. But I have been so pleased with how my voice is sounding and woah just look at that measurement! Average of 131hz, that's a C3 on the music scale! I still have some voice breaking, but I think it's beginning to settle down at last, and I still have a huge vocal range like I used to. But when I put on a deep voice now it's DEEP, and when I get excited it's not only heard by bats and mice anymore. Although I can still squeak quite high if I give it a go (but then my voice cracks). . I am truly really happy and hyper over this. Which deity do I praise for my Testosterone?? ✨☀️✨. . . hey , bodevans , who is the person that ' s being rude and terrible so that we can block them ? i don ' t trust them or like them >:~( i ' m sorry if i ' m overstepping ! 🌱 - aden-finn
this is the charlies @wheeliecharlies >:0 (the bodevans are making breakfast & ik the urls & they love it when we answer asks on their blog hehe, so! works out!)
they go by fable / lost / spiral. they’re into hxh alot, they type like, suuuper obnoxiously fancy & better-than thou, like, HUGE paragraphs. they’re an artist. their tumblr urls that ik of are: @ lostsaltspiral, lostvioletlotus, and salteddriftwood.
they’re mostly on twitter now iirc but idk we haven’t even thought abt them in ages so, idk??? why?? they’re doing that bfdhbdj at least it made us laugh!? we’re engaged & finally safe from abuse & thriving w/ our wheelchair so, ig they’re feeling self-conscious now
things they’ve said:
- “i wasted money buying you a wheelchair, my WIFE needed the money for her dentist, and now you just drop me, it was all a trick”
- “you would’ve verbally been abusive to us if u lived with us, actually dangerous, good riddance” (bc we hated his fake-smart weirdo views & guilt-trippy behavior)
Smart Views:
- “whites CAN wear kimonos theres nothing wrong abt it, this Real Japanese person on youtube dot com says so! also YOU, a native, are racist against natives for joking abt ur papi being ‘too mi’kmaw’ to wear shoes in winter”
- “women who say ‘men need to die’ are ~terrifying~ for trans men + men of color, they are JUST as likely to be depressed/oppressed/hurt/etc uwu we actually struggle soooo much to get housing and resources uwuwuwuw”
Have you listened to The White Vault series? I think its made by the same people (or friends of?) The people that do The Old Gods of Appalachia. It's horror and done pretty well imho?
Fool & Scholar Productions (Kate Statts and.. the sound man I cannot remember the name of) are the ones who make The White Vault, and Deep Nerd Media (Steve Shell and Cam Collins) are the ones who make Old Gods of Appalachia. and so yes if you can't tell by that, I have! 😄 @h-i-raeth is responsible for the Vast Majority of introducing me to this age of podcasts/fiction radio, so she knows. The White Vault is.. good. It is good. Their team actually helped Steve on learning more sound production stuff, which was really nice and cool of them, and we regard them as well-beloved cousins. Personally I take issue with some of the sound design choices TWV has made in the past, but their story has been enough for me to grumble through and put up with it. Graham Casner is the understandably grouchy adventure man love of my life. thank you though!
I just started Janus descending, I think per yours/h-i-raeth's recommendation and I'm loving it so far! Did you have a fave part about it? Spoilers are okay, I'll forget them lmao
this is purely a @h-i-raeth question mi amigo, I do need to listen to it myself still : )
